Yeah it is great news; as it means our warranties are still intact when we go water on classified now. (instead of some rudimentary "custom" universal solution that doesn't cool VRM/memory properly). AHowes, what temps are you getting on GDDRX5's ? Specifically these ones (with red arrow): Mine are still deep within safe limits for these chips but still not nowhere as low as the other 5 chips on PCB, these 3 are sometimes going 20c hotter than other 5 GDDR5X chips on my board when stressed and 10-12c hotter during normal gaming. I have a great idea for a workaround. I've found GDDR5X memory overclocking headroom is very sensitive to temperature.

EVGATech_MDecker Thank you nrpeyton for your research into this
You're welcome :-) Is there any chance of getting a *sticky* on this for a couple of days? Reason: A simple 'google' search on "1080 classified waterblock" still brings up 10 links to different forums across the web with people moaning about lack of support. 1 page linked to EK's site (still first on a google search) still says support was cancelled. (They only brought out blocks for about 5 pascal cards, the classified was the 6th but got cancelled). Also when I emailed EVGA support last month they obviously were still stating there was no support for this. Its not often a company as big as EK changes their stance and begins officially supporting a card because 1 user in the community got it working when official sources said it wouldn't (then shared their experience). Hope if I've seemed over excited about spreading the word on this but I think this is going to make a lot of Classified owners really happy :-) What's also great about this *official* support is it means our warranties are still intact now for those who do make the upgrade to water. (Instead of risking some rudimentary universal block that doesn't properly cool VRM & memory and may invalidate warranty when card blows up). I know EVGA is fine with water-cooling as long as you actually know what your doing, you take the precautionary "anti-static" measures and of course you don't damage the card by doing it. (In other words manufacturing flaws are still covered as usual). Anyway best regards. Nick

No idea.. I have no way to test the memory temps.

Its great to see and hear people taking advantage of this. The Nickel-Plated variant on EK's site just went out of stock for first time probably since the 980's :-) I wonder if EVGA actually sold more Classified 1080's since EK begun supporting it.... would definitely be interesting to know, lol

nrpeyton, I just received my recommended 780 waterblocks for my 1080 classified cards and have a few questions before I get started with putting them on. I was hoping to see the video you mentioned in my post before I get started, if you could please forward that youtube link to me I would be eternally grateful. And if I have not said so yet, thank you for all the hard work you have put into finding this solution for the 1080 classified community. Ethan U.S. Navy ret.

I'll have a look when I get in from work tonight. (this thread is a few months old now, so nice to see people still taking advantage of this EK block for their classy 1080's) :-) Use 1mm pads on memory and 1.5mm pads on VRM. There's a link to a little guide I done regarding pads somewhere. I'll have a look for that too, tonight.

Hijacking your thread for a moment to say, I need you to pm your address to me so I can look at sending you a probe it cable. I am going home today, and have to go to the shippers Monday, ao i am taking care of everything at once :-)

I've been getting a few PM's on overclock.net recently about water-cooling 1080 Classified with 780Ti Classy blocks. So here's the link to my other post regarding pad sizes to use. https://forums.evga.com/M...x?high=1080+Classy+780 ---------------------------------------- Scarlet-Tech
