So I awoke this morning to see a new GPU Kepler unit - 7626.  Unknown; no progress; using a CPU (13%) core; decimating my SMP -8.  .  I had been folding on the 80xx units for 21k ppd with no CPU usage.  What makes me nervous is that this is still a core15 unit.  I hope this isn't the permanent new flavor of Kepler unit, well... unless it pulls 40k ppd, lol.  I didn't even "upgrade" my v7 client.  Stinks, but I know them's the breaks when using the beta client.  Killing my 670 folding until this is straightened out, naturally, but man, this couldn't have happened at a worse time given tomorrow's anniversary.

You're not alone in noticing the effect that WUs running on Keplers are having on the CPUs.  FAH would actually have us understand that if we are not on the "FAH Beta Team", we shouldn't be running or commenting (on their site) about Kepler issues.  Reality says that many of us have Keplers, want to put them to work and still have no communication about when the Keplers will be optimized.  I gave up trying to Fold on my 690 and just do SMP on that rig until we get a core that will behave better with my CPU.

Taking advantage of my day off to switch to my full mod rig. Kelly and Michael and parts everywhere, lol! Laptop still folding at least. Going as fast as I can!

    Glad your staying jk.
Just letting everyone know my #'s will be down considerably for the short term as I part out a couple rigs. Keep an eye out to the marketplace over the next couple days.
k chips, cards and the like.

Yesterday I came home to check and find that one of my pc's gpu's were sitting stalled on WU's @ 0.00% .So I was in a hurry and deleted both WU's , for which immediately they downloaded new WU's and were working fine ?? This morning I wake up and the same thing . I didn't write down the WU's information but next time I will...You can see that my folding was down quite a bit from previous days http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=438460

F_I_N, you may be having this issue.  If so, you may want to download the core manually.

the fix mentioned in the above ticket helped me somewhat but I took a hit on overall ppd. Something changed and for the worse. I just hope it gets resolved soon. Don't want [H] to catch up!

I will be back with the smps after my indigo xtreme reflows. Creepy watching my rig do prime at 91-100c. Hope this is worth it...

Im running again - Im not on Beta yet so I can talk still
    if you are running v7
you need to apply the new core15 v2.24
you can find it on the FAH GPU tracker kepler guide

    http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1624942&mpage=1
    (on step 3)

you will have to move it to the FAH CLIENT data directory under

    start button->All programs-> FAHclient->DATA directory

    place in
    cores\www.stanford.edu\~pande\win32\AMD64\NVIDIA\Fermi\core15.fah

The core in that thread is old... use the one in the \beta\ folder on your PC.

Its not just the Kepler gpu that is getting slammed, but also the Fermi's too.  I've been picking up the 762x for the past 2 days.  They are murdering my GTX470.  GPU roasts at a water boiling 100*C and they take 8 hours to complete.  So if its the first WU of the day, I only let the GTX470 fold 1x WU for that day.

Got rid of the slot and re-created it.  Got a nice 8018 WU, so for now (about 6 hours) I'm good.

Fermi cards are getting the 726x WUs too and its murder. +5c and -3000 ppd across the board.

All of the 726x WUs should be 7000~ point credit. Even the simplest of testing should have showed that. Once again no love for GPU folders.

I updated the Nvidia drivers and downloaded the core15.fah 2.25
    it seems to be working
    it did 7623 Wu flawlessly

    ok - finish out WU's
archive the one in data directory - nvidia -core15.fah (ie renaming it or rename extension should do it)
then restart client - it should pull the new core

watch out as the points will be nerfed (lower with the new core)

    Hear that!  (-30% for me)
It sucks when you get the feeling that PG considers your not sold hardware crap, but doesn't do anything for new hardware.

I think its absurd that we have to continue folding these multi-day work units. They should be small, easy to manage bits that can be dispatched in an hour or three. NOT 30 HOURS

Ok... maybe I'm a little stupid about this stuff, but is there a step by step guide you can refer me to about manually changing around these cores and deleting/replacing/renaming them.

I have to say, it's ironic that I upgraded to a 3930k right when my GPU folding took a shot to the crotch... I'd be at 10k PPD at best if it weren't for this monster. Which reminds me... What determines which WU's we get? Because I've been getting these damn 7645's, which have relatively low PPD and take FOREVER... I seem to get one per day lately. The thing that sucks though, is they take SIXTEEN hours to finish!

OK!... the location of the cores in v7

    http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1764899

after you finish a WU and before you start another (so finish out your WU's)

in win 7 -> use the start button

    start button->All programs-> FAHclient->DATA directory

this will bring up windows explorer (in the FAHClient data directory)

    you then go to
    cores\www.stanford.edu\~pande\win32\AMD64\NVIDIA\Fermi\core15.fah

just delete the core file within (or rename it- ie the extension like core15.exe to core15.ex1)

it should download the new one. provided you have the gpu slot configured for Beta , once you start folding again

to config the gpu slot you select config
    highlight gpu and press edit
select add (in extra slot options) and type in "client-type" and "beta"

besides I think the beta config starts a beta directory for it now with v7.2.9 If you use the new beta client
    cores\www.stanford.edu\~pande\win32\AMD64\NVIDIA\Fermi\beta\core15.fah
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Yea I suffer from the new A4 WU's too...30-34k

Same here with my old 560ti. I have failed 11 of the 762x wus. I'm at 61% of the current 7623 wu so I'll see what happens tonight. If it fails again, then I go dark on the 560 and wait for the smoke to clear.

My pair of 460 started to do the same thing More unstable GPU WUs surprise surprise

The 460s are now sitting on my desk, no point in even having them installed if they are just going to sit idle.

How ironic that you suggest PG is doing nothing in the same thread that mentions 3 fahcore version updates.    (v2.22 original, v2.24 new, v2.25 newest)

    Edit: Check PM.

I have no intention of folding on my 660ti until PG gets their heads out of their posterior and actually DO something.

How ironic that you suggest PG is doing nothing in the same thread that mentions 3 fahcore version updates.    (v2.22 original, v2.24 new, v2.25 newest)

I think it was implied that they need to do something more sensible than just throwing unstable WU's at us.

I've been out for awhile so forgive me. Keplers came out last spring and those that bought one have been waiting for a new client (gpu4?) but instead the beta team released these hell hounds (762x wus) which suck in the ppd department and burn up the 400 and 500 cards and there's no official way gpu3 clients to not process these. Is that about it?
