Damn so many choices I like it. This maybe my next 9mm CCH that is if its not overpriced since it will be the newest handgun to join the family. I just held the Glock 42 today and very surprising how thin it is like the Smith and Wesson M&P shield. Wish the 43 had 8 rounds like the Shield(yes I know it comes with a smaller 7 round mag) but its whatever. I generally tend to always lean more to pistols that hold more but reliability is ALWAYS the most important factor. I have to say the 26 still is in my sights due to it holding 10 rounds. Hopefully this 43 wont be like a flop like the 42 was when it first came out.

I would go with G26 over G43. The G26 has been tried and tested for years, it also holds more rounds like you said.

    G26 30mm width   (10 rounds)
    G43 26mm width   (6 rounds)

4mm difference isn't worth losing 4 rounds in my opinion.  Also the G26 you can use 15, 17 or 33 round mags for backup in them. (if your state allows more than 10 rounds)

Glad people finally got what they wanted, I was getting tired of hearing about how glock needed to make one ever since the SW Shield 9mm came out.

I changed my mind about the G43 after holding one. It's my new bundle of joy.
    Order some Upgrades for it:
    Trijicon HD night sights (orange)
    Ghost edge connector
    Talon grips (rubber)

Not really a fan of glock it was the first handgun I purchased when I was 19 (G19 Gen 4) and ever since I handled an FN Five SeveN and a Kimber 1911 I've never been back... I wouldn't mind this for my mother though...

Have to agree. Fired both of my friends glocks, didn't like the way it felt whatsoever.

Comparing $1000+ guns to ones that cost around $500-600.

If you have any OCD about scratches or dings, Kimber isn't type of gun you would want to conceal carry.

Too small, anything that hold more than six shells, you better hit the shooting range, taking more than one shot per target,

You've seen too many Hollywood films....

I hear you have no problems holding onto smaller things.

They already sell Mag extenders for G43.

All about capacity.  Ammo is something you will wish you had more of if there is ever a need for it.

That is true but it's a give and take, higher the capacity, harder it is to conceal the pistol.

Re: New Glock 43 Pistol 2015/06/29 21:16:11 (permalink)
So I went to the Post Exchange today and finally got my hands on the Glock 43. I am not going to lie it was not as impressive as I thought. It just feels like a skinny G26 in your hands with shorter site radius and less tactical grip stubs.  I myself is a big proponent when it comes to having capacity and the 6 rounds that the G43 mag holds was disappointing. But at least the mag had that half shaved pinky extension on it instead of those full sized pinky extensions that extends your pistol to a compact gun and defeat the purpose of the small concealability factor of having a sub compact pistol. You would think that pinky extension would add an extra round or two but it doesn't. If your all wondering the trigger is the same as a G26 or a G17 but with a more audible tactile reset and feel to it which is always nice.

By the way last Monday I went to the range and I finally was able to shoot the S&W MP Shield and I have to say I was impressed with it. I thought the trigger for that gun was going to be sloppy do to its design from that weird type of wannabe two stage Glock safety trigger but its really shined in my eyes. If I recall the trigger pull for the Shield is 6 pounds but it felt like a 4 pound trigger IMO. The weird trigger they have for the Shield is a big improvement over the older trigger on S&W MP9's. Guess that saying of dont judge a book by its cover, well in this case dont judge a gun by its trigger until you have fired it goes to play here. Recoil for the Shield was exceptional. I wish I had the pictures to show my grouping for that gun at 15 yards but I forgot to take a snap shot of it because I got to carried away shooting the Springfield XDS .45 cal.

Now I would actually prefer the Shield over the G43 because it has a higher capacity count of 8+1 with pinky extension and you get a rail which is a nice extra to have. Not to mention that its about $130-$200 cheaper. Some tactical stores around my area would give even a higher discount than that if your active duty military or civil service. Not to mention you get that life time warranty S&W offers everyone knows about. If you plain on buying extra mags for either pistol, they both would run you around for $40-$55. If you look around hard enough you can find mags for both guns for less than that without these inflated prices that stores such as Gander MT and Bass Pro Shop like to sell for.

Here is a great review from my man Colion Noir of the G43 vs Shield.

You can get on the 1912 platform for $400-600, you can also get something like an FNX .40 for 5-600...

You can get Canik 55 TP-9 that holds 18rds for under $360, it's just harder to conceal it in the summer.

I'm not saying Glock 43 is best sub compact gun. It's hard to go wrong with one of the pistols below.

By the way I did a review of it right here if anyone is curious about the TP-9.
