SO I was reading on my FB wall and noticed a new post about the new EVGA Precision XOC 6.05

This post is pretty much for all of those who have MSI Afterburner.
I find myself installing MSI Afterburner due to the low score I was getting with Precision XOC 6.04
I was getting on firestrike ultra a 5500 Graphic score .... and on MSI AF  5630 Graphic score.
I tried running a custom OC curve. I tried the OC scanner to scan and automatically setup my Overclock settings and nothing. For some reason even  at 5500 Score my 1080 ACX 3.0 was giving me artifacts and only a 5500 graphic score running at 2088 mhz while using MSI AB I was running at 2088 Mhz too and a whooping   5630 Graphic score.

Can someone that already have MSI and a gtx 1080 tell me if they uninstall MSI and try this 6.05 tell me if their scores improve at all whatsoever?

Cuz im tired of uninstalling MSI just to realize that Precision XOC will give me worst numbers and artifacts.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my grammar. English is my 3rd language

I'm downloading 6.05 right now. I've been using 6.04 till now. I like Afterburner's interface better, but I'm forcing myself to get used to EVGA's software in hopes that it someday pays off, since I use an EVGA card.

I'll let you know if I see any differences in 6.05, though I doubt I'll see much improvement in my scores. I was pretty much pushing this 1080 SC overclocked on water cooling about as much as it's going to do.

Ok, I had a chance to try out the new 6.05. First, my card (1080 SC) was already supported by 6.04, so that wouldn't be different for me. It actually looked exactly the same to me (in order words, like a gimmicky toy program instead of a real tool). So the real question here is whether, as the OP asks, one will get higher performance with this new version.

My 1080 SC could run the Heaven benchmark (was on 1440p for another thread, even though I have a 4K monitor) at 2152 Mhz, but it would show video artifacts every few seconds. I fired up 6.05, made sure my settings were the same, and ran Heaven again. At first I saw no artifacts, but the temperatures were low (around 40 C) so I had to run it two or three times to get the temperatures up to the equilibrium temperature of 49 to 50 C. By the time the temps hit 49/50 I was seeing artifacts every few seconds.

So, at least with the limited form of testing that I could do, doesn't reveal any difference in performance for my card.

As for the difference between Afterburner and Precision X OC, I couldn't say, because I haven't run Afterburner since I water-cooled my 1080, which greatly improved its clockability.
