Hey everyone, just got a system together and the 970 should be here
on Friday. My question is do I have to remove the on board 4600 hd
graphics drivers ? Never had a cpu with on board gpu..

Or do I have the option to use the 970 as main gpu and the 4600 hd
gpu as physics x 'card'  ??

thanks for any advice/help

Yes, you will need to remove the intel hd drivers and disable the iGPU inside the motherboard BIOS.

thanks sajin, so , I just want to make sure , since I've seen several confusing posts

I'm in windows , with intel gpu running, then remove gpu drivers with add/remove program
    shut down pc....
install 970 , hook up monitor to 970,
    start pc
    go into bios ,
disable intel on board gpu - save
boot into windows and install new drivers for 970...
    Is that correct ?

    thank you for your time

I have sent away 970ies for RMA. During that time i have used the intel graphics. When the exhange card came back i just plugged that one in did a clean install of the nivida driver and that worked for me. Did not have to dissable intel HD in BIOS.

But i guess Sanjins way are the correct way. :)

Just checked device manger and the only display adapter that shows are the 970. So i guess my system disabled the intel HD chip on its own.

Sometimes the boards don't disable them so it's best to always disable it inside the BIOS.
