It'll probably hold its value very well.

If the 700s (or might be called the 6X5 series) are a incremental upgrade (which I'm going to guess they will since we're still on the Kepler program) with locked volts the 680 classy EVBot versions might hold up till the 800 Maxwells.

Refund they won't be making much likely BUT they could atleast reject orders from Classifieds or Warn the users BEFORE they buy it.. and from those who were not told... be able to swap their card / recall the cards, put some credits on their account with the same value as the Classified so they can buy what they want ...

Re:New 680 Classified has no EVbot plug?? 2012/10/01 13:18:29 (permalink)
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam i feel like i dodged a bullet. just bought mine recently from the egg and it has the evbot connector XD, but had i known nvidia was going to be such a douche about it i would have, like ive always done, bought an ati card...... i did buy a gtx275 and loved it, but ati has never steered me wrong. my first card was a 9800pro (that i promptly, and successfully flashed to 9800xt, one of those faulty cards that got a different downclocked bios).

im extremely happy with the performance im getting now but jeez nvidia could you be any more of a downer. i will not fund that sort of rubbish, sorry evga, i know that will effect you :( i still think your great :P. perhaps there is someway to impliment soldering points to attach an evbot adapter by the customer, since most that buy this thing know how to do that anyway. the circuitry is there, perhaps that would satisfy nvidias regs?

if not wow nvidia... your dumb. the only reason half the people that buy nvidia cards buy them, is for the nice scaling the cards have when overclocked.... and im not sure how me overclocking my card effects nvidia? what the fawk do they care? is it just me or is it not only our government turning to communism/marksism, but now individual companies are. forgetting the customer and worrying about other nonsense is not capatalysm. its socialism. thanks nvidia, way to set the example....(sarcasm). do what ever you can evga to bypass it ill try and think of other ideas to get around it (other than bios modding)

EDIT: perhaps if a 3rd party made an adapter to solder onto the pcb, evga could keep it's end of the bargain by selling classies without the adapter (maybe 10-20 bucks cheaper so we can pay for the adapter), and someone else can make it possible for us to attach evga's evbot. and i say 3rd party because if evga were to make the adapter, technically evga would be FULLY enabling the use of voltage control via an external device. it should be just as simple as soldering the pins to the correct area's with the correct layout. perhaps evga, if you were to sell these "adapters" to 3rd parties and allow them to "rebrand" them (or give them pantent rights to make it) they could sell them back to us, the customer :D. just some ideas. and on a different note, its more like a socket rather than an adapter, but you get the idea. :P ahem, ill see what i can do to make this socket myself, and if anyone wants one, pm me. give me some time to produce, and have someone test, one of these things. it should work, just wish i had a classy without the socket to experiment with :P

As a shareholder with Nvidia and long time user, I find this to be a blatient slap to my face. If they want to pull crap like this, I will have no problem investing my money elsewhere.

Speak with your money. Sell your stock.

If Nvidia keeps it up I have no issue going to AMD. So they have Driver issues, um... who doesn't? Nvidia has there driver spells to. I'm glad I just stuck with the reference GTX680.

EVGA need to make people aware of the changes, and maybe tell them why. Could hurt EVGA, so maybe I wouldn't do that, but it would also hurt Nvidia.

Wow, i honestly would return both cards. Go get yourself 2 680's FTW 4GB cards and use the extra cash for something else. You pretty much just threw away your money. It doesn't say anything anywhere that the cards no longer can be used with evbot, It should say it in bold letters somewhere on the product page. Im surprised there's absolutely nothing about it. Seems they should inform people about that.  Its really the only reason people buy them to begin with besides just to say you have a classified card. I would send them straight back if it was me. Screw the restocking fee, they can eat that you payed big money for the classifieds features which you didnt get.

So now there really is no point to buying a classified 680. The 600 series being voltage limited is ridiculous and I have thought less of Nvidia since the series was released because of it. The whole thing is lame, and this just makes it even worse.

What I find most annoying is, these 6xx cards would have been capable of so much more if there wasn't this voltage limit... I max out at 55c at 1.175v and I know I could get 1300 core if it would let me up the voltage to 2.12...

Thats my plan. I can return them to Amazon for a refund and end up ordering the FTW 4GB.

I checked the product page dozens of times and never suspected a thing.

Unfortunately we are not permitted to include this feature any longer.

Well, That's bad for Nvidia not to include it anymore, but PrecisionX should do the same good job, shouldn't it.??

This is honestly some sad sad news....
Why would they care what their vendors do to their cards?

Its a sad sad day.... I just wonder if this has to do with anything that Intel is doing?

The advantage of the EVBot was you could over volt the card higher than you could with Precision. Precision you are locked like everybody else. Thus making the Classified card obsolete now. UNLESS! You learn how to hard wire it for more voltage. That requires some skill and knowledge though and completely voids your warranty.

people may see this as nvidia being greedy and i sure it is part of it, I could also be nvidia dont want people OC there cards past the safe Volt limit for reason, Going past it can and will fry the card. maybe they want to minimize the cards being RMA cause some smo oced there card killed it and goes to rma it.... For same reason EVGA had there reason for doing away with lifetime warrenty.

Which is the same reason why i think they did this (Boost) or (Auto OC) on to there cards as means to stop people from OC past safe limits and frying their cards and rma'ing.

****ty way of going about and people will always oc things to the breaking point. but there reasoning is more then just profits

Realisticli I always come to the same point you do, a lot of ppl have that i know of broken the Voltage barrier, and when they do that they get their card to pop and fizz out of existance. I'd say only  some ppl can OC  the cards beyond their limits
and know were to stop their OC without burning the cards, and even the best ppl I know of have fried their cards before Nvidia put in OC'ing limits. I think it's a good thing to have a limit as long as it doesn't hurt the consumer that can OC their Cards better without buring them. So You Have the good with the bad.

I see more of people sending not great clocking  6xx cards back and its really just as bad as sending back cards hurt from your hands.
Now when you look back to nv's history on software voltage its fairlly new....6xxx 7xxx 8xxx 9xxx did not have any(besides98gx2) 200 yes at first with 280 260 but then gone with 265 275 285.
fermi had a run with 4xx 5xx with minimal(.127)voltage control.
now no mas voltage but never know whats going to happen later, more of nothing or a tad little of something.

I have been nVidia my entire PC gaming life, and through the 500 series I was so sold on Team Green that I had always said it would take something monumental and completely unforeseen to get me to switch my allegiance over to Team Red.

Congrats, nVidia. In one swift series change you've taken away a feature that, to me, is important enough to warrant a brand change. I did not think it was possible to lose my faith so quickly, but nVidia proved me wrong and found a way.

If this is the way they are going to operate their business and the 700 series comes voltage locked like this series, I will undoubtedly own AMD 8000 series cards as my next GPU's (providing they don't pull the same crap).

I would hate to leave EVGA because they are, IMO, the best computer part company out there. Unfortunately, nVidia would leave me no choice.

I care about two things .. gaming, and overclocking. Apparently, nVidia is tapping out of the latter which renders their product something I'm not looking for. I just sincerely hope AMD does not follow suit, and more so, I hope nVidia realizes that they're making a mistake and and moves forward with pulling their heads out of their you know what with the 700's.

Really a bummer day for GPU enthusiasts. I just hope it won't continue into the future generations of graphics cards.

I'm sometimes looking at people who have the 6x0 series that complain about the OC's and ask myself where would you guys be satisfied? 1350, 1400, 1430, 1800Mhz on the Gpu?

While i do find limits bothersome i do get why they are there in the first place. To not screw up your card. If you don't care that you may screw up your card, then just do a hard v-mod on it, play with it until it pops and then get another one. It's that simple.

Now looking on the other side of the fence (Radeon) where people say they'll go, aren't there are voltage limits as well?

people may see this as nvidia being greedy and i sure it is part of it, I could also be nvidia dont want people OC there cards past the safe Volt limit for reason, Going past it can and will fry the card. maybe they want to minimize the cards being RMA cause some smo oced there card killed it and goes to rma it....

I couldn't disagree with you both more.  Nvidia has effectively had EVGA remove an OC'ing feature from a card marketed for exactly that.  Also, the RMA prcocess is with the manufacturer, not with Nvidia directly.  So the one potentially taking a loss if any on an RMA would be EVGA(or whatever other manufacturer), in which case if that were the concern they could just tailor their warranty terms to protect themselves from an RMA due to overvolting a card.  Fortunately, this is EVGA's stance on overclocking..

And this stance is also the reason why myself and others purchase EVGA cards.  Nvidia has overstepped in this situation and I have a feeling its only going to get worse as they have no one to keep them competitive.

I'm sometimes looking at people who have the 6x0 series that complain about the OC's and ask myself where would you guys be satisfied? 1350, 1400, 1430, 1800Mhz on the Gpu?

I'm perfectly happy with my 1202 core. But I just know I could go 1300 if I could get the voltage to 2.12. Right now I hover around 55c under full load of BF3 after 4+ hour runs. I know I could push it to 2.12 and not worry about temps as 65c or lower is acceptable for me.

My Laptop (GT70 Dominator Pro):
-Intel I7 4810MQ @ 2.8ghz .
-12GB RAM.
-GTX 880M..
-1x Samsung 840 EVO 500GB.
-1X 1TB 7200 spinny drive.

I'm curious to know how long has evga known or expected this to happen?

My feeling is they've known for sometime and have just been waiting to sell off stock of cards with evebot connector.

Now that those cards are gone I suspect classy hydros without evebot connector will be up for sale any day, coincidence?

Yea I'm mad, just got my classy from evga on Friday got it along with the nexxus 1500 for the $100 discount and it does have the connector, unfortunately for me I'm sitting on 2 water blocks and backplates and I'm sure the odds of me coming across the second classy card with a evebot connector will be slim to none.

Thanx for that evga.
