mektacular Question for you Chris. It looks like your custom cables basically split out one 8pin PCIE power connection from the PSU into a two 8-Pin PCIE's for the 1070. Is that common practice? I would love to do that just reduce some cabling...
They make 8+6 cables so why not 8+8? You can do this but you'll have to make sure you will not exceed the power limits of your power supply. The only thing that is going to the 8pin gpu connector is four 12v wires and four ground wires. On the evga power supply all the 12v wires come from a single 12v rail. the process of making these is NOT easy but i am actually thinking about making a video of how i do this. But it'll be a couple weeks before i can record and publish it.

yes, that is essentially the same thing. but again the only problem with them is that they allow you to exceed the power limits of your power supply. so be careful and don't do this simply because your short on power connectors.

Chris21010 Welp i have finally done it! here is my build time lapse hope you enjoy:
EDIT: CRAP, why is it that only after publishing one notices that there is missing footage from the time laps... you never see me finish the wiring nor correct the water loop so it isnt blocking the GPU power connectors. i'll correct that and then re-upload soon.
Read this thread from beginning to end... A great read, and excellent vid... Goodstuff mate.

Oh no! Chris, would you say the tube had any tension on it ,to want to pull away from fitting? I hope for the best for you!!!

No it was the tube coming out of the gpu block. Even with the 90 deg bend above it the fitting just blew off. After looking at all my petg tubing at every fitting the tube suffered from creeping. Where even below the melting point the plastic slowly misshapens while being warm, pic below. My loop never exceed 38c but apparently thats too warm... that or ek's petg/fitting combo is just a poor choice. I really do not know enough about this stuff to say.

Very sorry to hear, Hope that there is not too much damage, or none would be better. So these were the solid form pipes, not soft tubing?? Would be interested to know what happened to the nickel plated blocks, why or how the copper is now seen?? a coolant issue??

i used distilled water with a few drops of mayhem dye's so i don't know. imma grab some ph strips and see if my coolant is acidic, as thats bad. and yes it was petg hard tubing that was deformed around the fittings, not soft flexible tubing.

well there will be no news, good or bad, till tomorrow at the earliest. i want to completely tear down all the gpu blocks and clean the PCBs of any/all possible residue. tonight will be a long night... and the dread of the possibility of complete hardware failure looming over me, putting so much into something like this just to watch it explode, the sooner i can get this over with the better, i do not like how much control it is having on my mood.

Well i now have everything apart, cleaned, and drying, going to give it another day to dry. Im also waiting for ekwb responce about seeing the copper on 2 of my blocks. Also bought more clear flex tubing and fittings in the hope that i can change over from petg to it instead. It will not look as nice but it is much more secure, im done with fittings blowing off. Once is just an event but twice starts to show a pattern. I am also still waiting on the long arm female atx terminals so i can start resleeving my cables to the uv green. I was really wanting to stage everything but now its all going down at once.

WOOT! Ok, everything posted so i think i am in the clear. Though i will not know if there are any stability issues untill i can put everthing back under water and get into windows. At this point imma just keep it offline and do all the wiring and replumb the water loop when parts arrive tomorrow. If all goes well i may, just maybe, have my pc to that 100% complete status by the end of this coming weekend.

I am happy for you, that could of been a real disaster. Chris, do they use a nut and ferrule with an insert inside the tube to keep its form and stop it from crushing? Like a compression fitting.

Something like this but in the right size of course. http://www.homedepot.com/...t-909-070201/100638289 Maybe not using the nut and ferrule, but use the insert. They are brass and should not cause a problem with the copper in the rads and pump.

No nothing goes on the inside of the hard tubing, only the soft tubing. And never thought to push something inside a hard tube...

Cable management is a pain! Took me 4 hours just to sleeve and run that one green cable and tuck away the fan cables.... just another 6 cables to go. I swear i'll spend more time doing this than i took to build the whole thing!
