my friend has one. its super sturdy, meaning it doesn't feel cheap. has additional buttons/triggers underneath the controller, which are removable. comes in its own case. has joystick extenders....aaaaaand thats about it. like you said, if you have deep pockets, then sure why not.

Most of the buttons are removeable. There are 4 buttons under the controller with paddles that can be remove. The DPad can be switched out for a different D Pad, and it is configurable to the users liking to reassign buttons. The triggers can also be adjusted for length of pill required so they are hair sensitive for shooters, or spongy and slow for driving games and throttle Control.
It's not a basic plastic controller. It's not worth $149 either, but it is Xbox's way of directly competing with the companies that charge $200 for customized controllers with more functionality.

all buttons are mappable, elite controller or not. under settings in the xbox conrtol panel itself

Yes, but can you assign specific buttons to the underside of a normal controller? No, because there aren't buttons underneath most controllers. The elite has 4 extra buttons on the underside of the controller. It was released back in October/November. I am kind of surprised this is the first post on it, 7-8 months after it was released.

 loving mine when I used it for bf4 I was able to fly better compared to the the regular controller plus I even use it for the system too but it just for my pc

My son uses a SCUF controller to play Destiny on PS4. He is in the top 100 in the world at the game so I am guessing it helps.

That Elite controller is seriously bad arse. The build quality is exceptional. Its about $50 over priced though. I would say $100 would be better.
