Hi there,

So I just installed my Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and because I had to remove my CPU out of it's socket to clean it as their was dust around socket, the "New CPU has been detected" which 2 options came up "Config new CPU settings" or "Load/Use old settings"(that's probably not what it said but you get the idea) which I picked the Load existing settings, and I noticed the 212 EVO Fan was a tiny bit loud(Like your GPU Fan at 60% loud) so I checked the Monitor Hardware in the BIOS and yes the 212 EVO was 1600 RPM(Highest it goes for the EU Ver) which I quickly enabled CPU Q-Fan and selected the Standard setting and saved & exit.

I went back into the BIOS and checked if the RPM went down which it did to 600RPM and I was just wondering if I did it all right? I have hardly any knowledge of stuff like this, also should I enable Q-Fan for my 2 Chassis fans aswell? but I only saw 1 in the bios, they're both spinning so I'm not sure what to do.

Yep, that's right..And you should have 3-wire chassis fans connected only to the CHA_FAN2 and CHA_FAN3 mobo headers and they should show up in BIOS/Q-Fan Control..Sounds to me like maybe you have a 3-wire chassis fan connected to the 4-pin CHA_FAN1 header..And if you're using Fan Xpert in the AI Suite software, the fan settings in BIOS will be overridden by the software..See your mobo manual for details.

Yep I just realised I've had the front case fan in the PWR Fan for last 3 years, BUT when I started my PC up for the 2 second time after Q-Fan was enabled for the CPU Fan, I got 3 beeps and it said CPU FAN Error press F1 to resume but before I pressed it I checked if the CPU Fan was spinning and it was.

Any reason why my PC would think the CPU Fan is not working when it is?

You have the 4-pin fan wire from Hyper 212 EVO fan connected to the 4-pin CPU_FAN header and not the 4-pin CHA_FAN1 header?

You have the 4-pin fan wire from Hyper 212 EVO fan connected to the 4-pin CPU_FAN header and not the 4-pin CHA_FAN1 header?

I have it in the CPU_Fan header

Also I've read that ASUS Motherboards have a CPU Fan RPM Alarm so to speak that makes the CPU Fan Error come up as it still thinks the intel stock cooler is installed, but I have no idea in BIOS where to set it to a lower RPM or just turning the alarm off all together.

With the Hyper 212 EVO 4-pin PWM fan connected to the 4-pin CPU_FAN header (which is PWM) it should not beep and cough up the CPU Fan Error message prompting you to Press F1 to Run Setup at boot.

Even with a 3-pin fan connected to the 4-pin CPU_FAN header it should not beep and error because a fan is detected..But with a 3-pin fan on a 4-pin header, there will be no rpm control (unless there's a BIOS setting to change how the header functions, i.e PWM or Voltage Control as on some mobo's) and the fan would run at full speed..You can use a 3-pin fan connector on a 4-pin fan header, or a 4-pin fan connector on a 3-pin fan header..More on that here and here.

Your CPU Fan Speed should be shown in the BIOS -> Hardware Monitor and in software regardless of whether a 3-pin or 4-pin fan connector is on the 4-pin CPU_FAN header.

In the attached photo, I have a 3-pin case fan on my 4-pin CPU_Fan header..It does not cough up any errors on boot, it shows RPM in BIOS and Windows software (Fan Xpert 2 and others), but rpm control is not possible at all..The 3-wire fans for my Corsair H80 are connected to 3-wire Chassis Fan headers for control..I do not have any 4-pin fans.

I can use Q-Fan Control on my 3-pin chassis fan headers, but I use the Fan Xpert 2 software that's included in AI Suite instead because it offers more options and fan curves can be customized better/less noise.

If you are still having problems with it, you can Load Setup Defaults from the BIOS Exit menu and go from there..You could also totally clear CMOS by unplugging the PSU and removing the mobo battery for about 5 minutes..When you Load Setup Defaults or clear CMOS, everything (Q-Fan Control, First Boot Device, CPU/Memory frequency, etc.) will be put back to the original configuration and all custom BIOS settings you made, if any, will be lost and need to be reconfigured again.

And do not remove the CPU anymore just to clean the dust, canned air will do the trick.
