Intel 990x
EVGA X58 4Way sli
16Gb Corsair Vengeance RAM 4x4
EVGA 980TI Kingpin edition "put in system March 1st"
EVGA 1300w power supply "maybe 3 months old"
Windows 7 home
So after installing my 980TI I had a couple of crashes to where the system would freeze up and go to a solid colored screen with a buzz of the game that I was playing then system would restart. I read that this is due to the core clock being to high so in Precision X I dropped it down -85. The system was stable and I had no issues for around a month or so. My GPU temperatures never got over 66 Celsius even running ARK on max setting so I don't believe temperature was the issue.
The other night I had been running 3ds max and using substance painter 2 when this happened again. Naturally I though it was the GPU. Rebooted it up and it happened again. At that point I said screw it and went to bed for the night.
I woke up the next morning and tried to turn my computer on and got no display coming from the pc.
Now when I boot the pc the fans come on and I get the beep saying that it has passed the POST test and my screen monitor turns on but no display. This was only after doing a CMOS reset. If I keep turning it back on then there won't be a beep.
I've
Reset Cmos- several times
replaced the 980 with 3 other 580 video cards. only twice have I gotten the bios to come on and when I hit F1 to continue the PC would shut off.
unplugged and installed each (5) ram sticsk individually
tried different power supply with one of the 580s same result
unplugged everything except cpu and the different graphics cards because I do not have integrated graphics
tried pc in a different power outlet
tried two different monitors VGA-DVI, HDMI, and the small HDMI connector that comes with the card
powering the 980 with different cords from the power supply
At this point I'm thinking it's the motherboard which stinks because I have the 990x and there isn't a lot of LGA1366 motherboards out there to replace it with. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them at this point.
