I guess the title of the thread should have been:
"Name EVGA's Next Generation Board and we will modify it to make it nothing like your suggestion!"

I am a little disappointed with EVGA. Personally, i think Super Record as a board name is extremely cheesy. (not saying that my suggestion was any better)

However its pretty gross to see they have a contest where you get to pick the name of their next board and hundreds of entries are submitted and they don't even use a suggestion that was given. Guess what guys, EVGA didn't even pick one of our names... Then they have the nerve to say that someone's suggestion was closer than anyone elses.

The only thing close about those two names is the fact they contain the word Super. Really? I can not be the only person here who thinks this whole competition was a huge popularity stunt. That they didn't even fulfill their end of the bargain. As kt9394 I would personally be happy that I won, but pretty pissed that EVGA decided that my suggestion wasn't good enough and they still had to change it.

Mine:... Classified Sinister Duo Edition = Classified S -2 
EVGAs: Classified SR -2  ..I was just missing the R

Had EVGA not made those guidelines, a lot of entries would have no doubt been different. Since the name chosen was not one that anyone came up with, there should not have been a winner, or else the final name should have been one that an entrant came up with since that was the stated point of the 'competition'... Seriously, out of hundreds of good suggestions, EVGA thought "super records 2" was the best? That's not even funny.  ..and no offense meant to the winner, but yet again the 'winner' was someone who has contributed next to nothing to the community? If EVGA could not find a name they thought appropriate, then awarding to perhaps someone like Shamino who has given so much to the community would have been far more appropriate, and almost certainly would have been more acceptable to most members. Kind of disappointing.

Oh, and this is not about being a sore loser - my view is much like what FredBSD said a few posts up; "I would have simply given the board to someone here who folds or has a need for such a high end gadget.  I just enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the contest."

You do realise Shamino works for EVGA and designed the board?

I am sure he has got a few samples of this board and not only that is being paid handsomly for his services.

Giving it to someone on the forum who doesnt work or is associated with EVGA but contributes time, effort and knowledge would be more appropriate.

I have nothing against Shamino but i am sure EVGA is taking very good care of him without awarding him prizes that are meant for customers/fans of EVGA, i am sure he got lots of free hardware direct from the companies/vendors and not just from EVGA.

Apart from that i totally agree with what you said.

On a side note for those Suggesting Shamino Special, that is a good name and i think it was one of the "code names" for the original Classified but the only problem with Shamino Special is that it abbreviates to SS, if EVGA called it the SS-2 some people may think they are trying to resurrect the Third Reich.

notice how no one of importance has posted regarding the anger and discontent of what appears to be atleast half of the responses. Fairly frustrating. And no, I don't feel Shamino should've won the contest. he probably has 3 or 4 of those damn boards in his living room. Perhaps, they should've narrowed down 5-10 of the best names and had us re-vote on those, instead of making up some stupid ****ty sounding name.

THAT would've been much better than just randomly picking a guesser.
