dwoodward I guess the title of the thread should have been: "Name EVGA's Next Generation Board and we will modify it to make it nothing like your suggestion!" I am a little disappointed with EVGA. Personally, i think Super Record as a board name is extremely cheesy. (not saying that my suggestion was any better) However its pretty gross to see they have a contest where you get to pick the name of their next board and hundreds of entries are submitted and they don't even use a suggestion that was given. Guess what guys, EVGA didn't even pick one of our names... Then they have the nerve to say that someone's suggestion was closer than anyone elses. Super Classified Super Record The only thing close about those two names is the fact they contain the word Super. Really? I can not be the only person here who thinks this whole competition was a huge popularity stunt. That they didn't even fulfill their end of the bargain. As kt9394 I would personally be happy that I won, but pretty pissed that EVGA decided that my suggestion wasn't good enough and they still had to change it. Thanks for trying tho right? I agree what a cheesy name!

krane If you really want to get technical, my name was close too. Mine:... Classified Sinister Duo Edition = Classified S -2 EVGAs: Classified SR -2 ..I was just missing the R http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?high=sinister+duo&m=118790&mpage=17#124157 This board would have been wasted on me any way, But I would take any other board as a second place prize Yeah and that sounds badass.

Cant believe EVGA went with a name that uses the word Super, the other hardware vendors must be glad they had already taken the words like Extreme or Fusion. Well they are the only one to make such a ridiculous board for the 0.01% elitists so atleast it should live up to its name and produce some super (said in a Gay Al from Southpark voice) Records. gratz to the guy whos entry resembled the name EVGA came up with the most, if only i had thought that EVGA would want the word "Super" in their product name, i had totally disregarded it for some stupid reason. I am hoping EVGA thought the abbreviation SR was cool and not the actual name Super Record, that just happened to be the best they could come up with to fit the SR abbreviation, SR sounds like a Vauxhall car (classy).

Grats to the winner! I liked my name though...damn it! ;>) Actually, to be completely honest, I would have simply given the board to someone here who folds or has a need for such a high end gadget. I just enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the contest.

Yup, I agree 100%. I won't add on to your comment, because I already have a bad rap with EVGA - b*tching about (nearly) every contest. Like I said before, I'm happy for the winner, and it'd be nice if he'd stick around the forums and maybe fold a little. yeah this is getting to point of ridiculous. all these so called sweepstakes or contest go to the low posters. WTH? it's like thanks for being a loyal long time customer and member helping our customers but screw you where going to do what we want. Well for me that's it no more entries for me because whats the point.

Agreed to Dwoodward's post, and Quadlatte's post. Just my honest opinion. I wonder why they put all these Requirements in, and then don't even follow it themselves? How did they expect anyone to win? Obviously the way they chose....Oh well, grats KT.

Grats to the winner. Kind of thought the guidelines of what to include were actual guidelines : EVGA_JacobF Simply name below what you would like to see this next generation motherboard called, and EVGA will select one winner. A couple of points to keep in mind: This is a “Classified” line of product. This product uses the Intel 5520 chipset. This has Dual Sockets supporting Dual CPU’s. (emphasis mine) Had EVGA not made those guidelines, a lot of entries would have no doubt been different. Since the name chosen was not one that anyone came up with, there should not have been a winner, or else the final name should have been one that an entrant came up with since that was the stated point of the 'competition'... Seriously, out of hundreds of good suggestions, EVGA thought " super records 2" was the best? That's not even funny. ..and no offense meant to the winner, but yet again the 'winner' was someone who has contributed next to nothing to the community? If EVGA could not find a name they thought appropriate, then awarding to perhaps someone like Shamino who has given so much to the community would have been far more appropriate, and almost certainly would have been more acceptable to most members. Kind of disappointing. Oh, and this is not about being a sore loser - my view is much like what FredBSD said a few posts up; "I would have simply given the board to someone here who folds or has a need for such a high end gadget. I just enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the contest."

i agree with others about this naming contest, what was the point of having people name the board if you didn't even pick one? basically publicity stunt IMO. i think naming it something like EVGA classified shamino special would be much cooler sounding and shows shamino stands behind such an amazing product as well. but whatever, just my 2 cents

I am sure he has got a few samples of this board and not only that is being paid handsomly for his services. Giving it to someone on the forum who doesnt work or is associated with EVGA but contributes time, effort and knowledge would be more appropriate. I have nothing against Shamino but i am sure EVGA is taking very good care of him without awarding him prizes that are meant for customers/fans of EVGA, i am sure he got lots of free hardware direct from the companies/vendors and not just from EVGA. Apart from that i totally agree with what you said. On a side note for those Suggesting Shamino Special, that is a good name and i think it was one of the "code names" for the original Classified but the only problem with Shamino Special is that it abbreviates to SS, if EVGA called it the SS-2 some people may think they are trying to resurrect the Third Reich.

Fair enough, although that was just an example. How about someone like Shansmi? There are plenty of others, but yes, you're right; competitions such as this usually exclude staff and immediate family by default.

notice how no one of importance has posted regarding the anger and discontent of what appears to be atleast half of the responses. Fairly frustrating. And no, I don't feel Shamino should've won the contest. he probably has 3 or 4 of those damn boards in his living room. Perhaps, they should've narrowed down 5-10 of the best names and had us re-vote on those, instead of making up some stupid ****ty sounding name. THAT would've been much better than just randomly picking a guesser. and yes i realize on this forum i have a low post count, but im no newcomer. I have 5K+ posts on Nvidia's SLI forum. -lycan

I seem to recall that it was said very early on that they reserve the right to exclude all names we offered and pick one of their own. I like the name (even though the one I submitted was far superior). I think it is extremely generous they picked a winner in spite of the fact it was not an exact match. I look forward to the imminent release of the board. It will be interesting to see what everyone does with it.

congrats to you! the name signifies a sports car name, but whatever. i dont really care what its called, but how it performs. probly never have one due to impracticality for me, and the cost of getting 2 cpus with 2qpi buses each. i think the cheapest intel xeons right now run at like, $375.00 each and only run at like, 2 - 2.2 ghz. those are the 55xx ones right now. they might get cheaper when the w56xx comes out

The name is a little cheesy but i guess it does reflect EVGA's intentions for this board, as i always thought this board is basically for the extreme high-end enthusiast/overclocker, i am sure it could still be used for other applications such as a workstation but the reason EVGA made this board was to break records.
