EVGA 5520 Classified Typhon

Typhon is the final son of Gaia, fathered by Tartarus, and is the most deadly monster of Greek mythology. Typhon attempts to destroy Zeus at the will of Gaia, because Zeus had imprisoned the Titans.

Typhon was described  as one of the largest and most fearsome of all creatures. His human upper half reached as high as the stars. His hands reached east and west and had a hundred dragon heads on each. His bottom half was gigantic viper coils that could reach the top of his head when stretched out and made a hissing noise. His whole body was covered in wings, and fire flashed from his eyes.

No special names, it just sounds stupid. keep it simple and go with the rest of your product line. if the board has 4 way sli support, which it looks like it does the " EVGA 4 Way 5520 Classified" other wise a simple "EVGA 5520 Classified" will be the best name for this beast of a board. Keep in mind the 5520 is just the chipset line and the "classified" product line has already named the board the best, as per the x58 boards. so long story short by just simply naming the chipset "5520" and the "classified", you have already determind this board is the best of the best.

"EVGA 4 Way 5520 Classified"

or

"EVGA 5520 Classified"

Keep up the good work EVGA

EVGA 5520 Supercomputer Classified X2 nF200

Come on people, you can connect three NVIDIA Tesla S2070 compute clusters with 4s GPU each, and a Quadro card on top of that. That's a total of 13 GPUs for a total of 32 (thirty-two) TFLOP/s of double-precision performance.
Think dual nForce200.

SLI and/or X-Fire would be quite redundant for a board this well designed.

not sure what you mean by this but main portion of EVGA's customer base care about gaming, benchmarking, SLI/Crossfire and they will sometimes use that power to fold also.

This is not a board aimed at the server/super-computer segment, although it could be used for that, the board is basically EVGA using whats available to make a Dual socket Desktop board.

There has already been a picture of this board with 4 GTX 285 Classifieds inserted in it, so the whole point for EVGA atleast for this board to have the same 2x nForce 200 chips and 7 PCI-E slots like the current EVGA X58 Classified 4-Way SLI is to give the board 4 Way SLI support, otherwise they could just have stuck Dual intel 5520 IOH's on it like SuperMicro do with their Serverboards, infact since this board uses the 5520 chipset it may be necessary to have the nForce chips to enable SLI support.  The board also has "Nvidia SLI" branded on it.

basically this is for the person who wants the processing power of a Dual socket server board but in a desktop package so they can use SLI when they want to.

I am not saying it cant be used the way you stated and some people may use it like this but its not really the area EVGA has designed this board for or where they are trying to market it but i am sure they will welcome any additonal sales the "super-computer" market brings on top of the one they originally intended it for.

I disagree that EVGA's core business would be the majority of sales responsible for this board.  The general sentiment towards the first Classified board (759) were very similar, yet the majoity of Classified owners don't use it for what we thought it was only good for.  They treat the board differently, rather as just a premium high-end board, as such EVGA had to cater to that new direction by offering other versions.

I think the features are simply EVGA's way of hitting multiple birds with one stone, already catering to as many concievable uses (maybe so they don't have to make more SKUs).  The first classified also had a limited run, so I don't know if/how EVGA intends on other SKUs, might not be worth it.

But let's say a majority of those sampling this dual-socket board just happen to use it for folding or professional uses involving SLi/CF, as opposed to EVGA's core audience which games and benchmarks, what then?  I don't doubt that fans of EVGA or those intrigued by dual-socket, as well as extreme benchmarkers, will be the first in line for this; I just have a hard time believing they are a majority of those getting this.  We're potentially talking about a $600+ mainboard.  For regular dual-socket folks who want more, this is a drop in the bucket (especially if they already have the CPUs), same can be said for extreme overclockers.  But for everyone one else, gamers and typical benchmarkers, it is a lot to ask for; especially not being able to use regular i7's and that most mainstreams apps aren't multi-threaded.  Someone would have to either happen to run a majority of those multi-threaded apps available or intend to keep this board for a really long time to reap the benefits.  How many of us common posters, who gripe of next gen being just a year old, intend to keep components for longer?

Is EVGA making a list yet, with each members 1 entry?

If so I would love to see a single neat listing, of what we are looking at so far for submissions.

Also, how are you guys going to handle the ones that submitted multiple names.

I'm sure some are wondering what names are considered to be officially taken.
(Especially when a member submitted multiple names.)

We might need to know what is now off the table.

Could the OP be updated with the list?
I think it best to get structured now, while there is still time on the clock.

For users with multiple entrys, we will likely end up choosing only the first entry, however that has not been decided yet.
