You realize that more programs do this kind of stuff now. Steam polls hardware, Nvidia does that, and who knows what other programs have their own variant of this.

It's nice that many programs (such as Steam) notify the user -- when you install the program -- that the program will periodically poll for hardware information/statistics and provide the user a means to give or deny consent from the get-go. It's not so nice when a company decides to all of the sudden start gathering information in a software update with no obvious warning.

Why the heck is anyone spoofed of this? Are you serious? All it does is allow Nvidia to read it in real-time. Oh noes... Talk about being paranoid, the only thing they're trying to do is understand why errors would occur. If it's not one thing, it's another. They/we/you can never satisfy people - ever. They will always find ways to complain complain complain. If anyone wants to complain, go buy a Mac. If anyone is that paranoid, unplug the cat-5 from the computer, case closed.

What is "it" which "it" reads? What is the scope of the data "it" gathers? Can you provide documentation? Without knowing the scope of the data which is gathered and without any notification from NVIDIA about the thier decision to gather data, how do you know if it is information you are comfortable sharing?

If you're talking to me, not a damn clue, but the way you all are talking is asinine crazy and making it sound like Nvidia is working with the NSA or FBI. Let's all put on the tin foil hats now... Bottom line, if you're that paranoid, pull the internet from your computer, no more problems. It's a conspiracy Tyger, they're coming to get you. No, seriously, turn around.

I am not paranoid and this subject doesn't really apply to me.  I don't use Geforce Experience, I rarely update my video drivers, I am using driver version 340.52 at the moment, and I checked and these tasks seem to have never been created on my computer.  But that is beside the point.
 
The point is, that it is extremely bad practice for companies to add data-gathering "features" in a software update with no obvious warning.  I am sure that it is hidden or hinted at somewhere in the terms and conditions of their software update installation, but it is simply bad practice (and often borderline illegal in some countries/regions) to start gathering information from users via software without an extremely explicit warning/explanation.
 
I wish everyone would quit with the tin-foil hat nonsense and instead embrace the fact that informing people about almost any subject is a valuable process instead of encouraging people to keep quiet and not disseminate information.  Saying that this thread serves no purpose and frowning on anyone who says that this information is valuable, is counter-productive.

My bad, i couldn't help but to add sarcasm to it, because it's not really killing anyone's performance, as far as what I have seen on my end. Maybe for others it has, I don't know. At the same time I do agree with you that companies shouldn't really be doing this, but at the same time, I'm honestly shrugging it off. Let's go ahead and say they are "collecting data" (twilight zone right?) ... consider it like any local store (e.g. best-buy/staples/sams club) asking for your phone number. Your initial response would be, "why do you need my phone number?" their only response they're going to tell you so they can get a report on where people are coming from to shop at their store. That's mainly the only reason a store would ask for a phone number.  ... Bad analogy, but it's the best I can think of, assuming that NVidia is collecting people's data... Maybe they're figuring out where most people are buying their products from. Who knows? Who cares? Again, does it kill your performance? Regardless if you're hating the tin foil hats, it is still very true. Nvidia is not going out hacking into people's computers to see what you're doing on your PC... (or maybe they are??? ) I'm sorry, I just don't find the fact that Nvidia is collecting people's data is any concern, Microsoft does this all day and all night long, yet you people don't tend to complain at all about it.
