IMHO... you need to do benchmarks on the same high end system (same cpu/ram/mobo) in order for the comparison to matter...
this whole amd vrs intel thing is just a waste of time on this topic... I am looking forward to some real benchmarks on a level playing feild...

Oh my, Oh my! I only wish we knew what the projected price drops would look like! I know you guys are all excited, but you really shoudln't hope for this. Treat the outcome if it happens as a bonus, not a promise where you set yourself up to be let down. Considering the business case, nVidia needs every last dollar or euro, I see no obligation to drop prices except because of AMD. The only logical way I could see nVidia dropping 480/580 prices is that it has to be slower and not worth it's asking price compared to AMD. Ironic isn't it? If 580 ends up faster than anything AMD has, they better be willing to spend much more than they would want to. [Yurimaster]
Looks like another refresh and rebrand, I hope it is not base on fermi but a whole new architecture. If you had at least read a few rumors, you'd know this isn't true. Don't blame nVidia for hoping wrongly. First clue is in the specs, the shader fill rate isn't more than 25% faster than GTX480; if this was a new arch, it would be a fail compared to 480 vs 280 or 5870 vs 4870 which were near doubles for both. It could be a refresh of GF100 but called GF110; I never bought into the rebrand logic, so I won't go there.

right.....thats why IMO the real war begins when the AMD 69** cards come out.. then the market prices should settle for a few mounths... depending on performance and who has the fastest single GPU will dictate prices on new products and price drops on curent products...

yup Tues is the release of the GTX 580, i would had known by around the release or right before of fallout new vegas but yeah didnt get on trillian and was playing FO NV every chance i got=/
