Jowata I'm just curious how much juice this thing is going to suck up.............. Who knows, I just might get trigger happy and buy a couple. It's basically the 480 that's more optimized, it supposedly uses less power than the power the 480 or the same amount of power Hmm I wonder what my 2 480's will sell for?

Looks like another refresh and rebrand, I hope it is not base on fermi but a whole new architecture. If so I then consider selling my two 5870's
Rebrand it isn't. Refresh, depends on what you consider refresh. Lower TDP and higher performance on a reworked Fermi. Lessons learned from the sucesses and 'failures'. Either way, if it meets or beats the competition's top end who cares? I just hope it's a folding monster

So it's a 480 basically, if we can believe those stats, but takes full advantage of the card. Hmmmmmm, I guess this means no 485!. Thats fine but where is my dual gpu co-op fermi?!? Emach

Nice! Retail price should be $550. Vanilla and the rest will follow. If EVGA includes the game with this card, I am game. now the question is CAN U DIG IT?
Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

This thing looks like a beast! very nice performance increases. " So we have 512 CUDA cores, 64 TMUs and 48 ROPs just like GF100 is capable of. Matched with the higher clock speeds, the GTX 580 has an improved pixel fill rate, texture fill rate and memory bandwidth. The texture fill rate is up from 42 billion/sec to 49.4 billion/sec while the pixel fill rate is up from 33.6 billion/sec to 37.06 billion/sec. The memory bandwidth has been increased from 177.4 GB/s to 192.4 GB/s. This brings up the GTX 580's performance by 15%-20% in games, according to NVIDIA, although a 3DMark Vantage run showed a 30% performance increase." Insane performance, if this puppy really goes out on Nov 9th hats off to nvidia, what an astonishing come back from a 6 month delay, unfortunatly they had to sacrifice the time spand for the 400 series to do so. Judging from the backside of those pictures the GPU itself seems to be quite a massive one aswell. You lucky 2500 better be all over that F5 button like white on rice!

2GB VRAM and 512bit interface, but apparently those were both bad assumptions.

Actually the fan does look larger on the GTX 580, even looks to be a different fan. The holes in the center part are closer to the edge and the blades look to be further away from the center on the GTX 580 picture. Could be an optical illusion though.

Really a bad move to not have 2g's... I will be keeping my 470's if this ends up being the case. Those of us running multiple monitors need more RAM... I was hoping to get two of these, but if they are 1.5g's.. I will wait...
