So, after all these threads how mega impressive this new card is, I'm feeling pretty alone with my card.

I ordered it right at the moment when it was available.

At the beginning of my video you can hear a humming sound. That's the sound of the coolers of the graphics card. It really gets annoying, because in many games the coolers are operating excactly at these speeds, so you have that humming all of the time. The only workaround is a custom fan curve or settings the card to a fixed 30-35%.

The high pitched sizzling ist the actual coilwhine by the card itself.

System specs in the video discription.

Seems like I'm the only person having this issue with the new card...

Seems like I'm not allowed to post a youtube link, to whatever reason...

Nice topic, just like mine haha
Sorry to hear that. I recon that humming sound..but youre card seems to have some coil-whine too mixed with that fan sound.
I have my computer on the ground so i only hear the humming when i turn my ear against the chassi

50% (or more) of all gtx 970 seems to have coilwhine, so its a lottery..but the humming should evga look into.
Ive heard it from a couple others too

Hi... and Welcome to the forums :)

You can only post links after you have reached 10 posts I believe it is.

Now about the card... you have made sure it is the card itself and not your power supply right? The reason I am asking is because if you are not happy with the card than I suggest you call customer service and tell them your situation and they will ask you the same thing. They Will take care of you and replace the card if you are not happy with it.

    Just give them a call -- http://www.evga.com/about/contactus/

    Hi,

I can a 100% assure you that's the card, not the PSU.

I had 2x 970s before in reference Design by Palit, no coilwhine, then I had 2x GTX 980s also reference Design and no coilwhine. Midterms I had a 290X with 8GB no coilwhine and my 780Ti Kingpin had no coilwhine even at 800FPS.

So, it's safe to say that it's the card.

So, the problem is, in germany you are allowed (by law) to send back a card within 14 days after arriving. You can either choose a refund, sending a new card etc.

I wish to replace that SSC with the FTW+ , because right now...I'm stuck in between... go again for 2x 970s FTW+ in SLI....pre-order the Kingpin 980 or wait for the Titan II / 390X. But I already heard, that the Titan II may cost up to 1300-1500€ which would exceed my personal limit of ~ 1000€ for a GPU.

Just return it for a replacement and try a step-up if you want to do that within the specified time limit.  That's what I'd do.

As with other videos I cannot hear any noise.
The video is so dark you cannot see anything as well.
Run Heaven 4 Heavy for 24 hours and here how it sounds after a little burn in on your New Graphics Cards.

In all seriousness, and I am just asking. Do you run with your case open like that all the time? If the side cover is on do you hear it? How exactly close was your video made to the card itself?
But then again in all honesty, if it bothers you I would do as Maverick suggests. If your in your time limit return it or step it up, if you miss that window your going to be stuck with a card that you do not like because of the noise.

Glad you asked this, sometimes I think they have their computer case an inch or so from their Monitors.
Also it is like they all keep the side panel off as well.

I think the closest case to my KB LCD and Mouse is about 3 to 4 feet away and down below, but not on the ground.

You won't be able to post links until you have enough posts.

What power supply do you have?

    Evga G2 850.

And you don't hear anything? Oo

Thats really strange , because until now, everyone agreed on the coilwhine.

And this coilwhine is even with a closed case very noticable. I habe heard worse, but consider the coilwhine already at 60 FPS.

Im running a 144Hz Monitor and when playing warthunder at 144fps its way worse.

I still dont know what to do... 970ftw+ when available...or 980 KPE.

If you are asking me personally what I would do in this case here it is...

If one card will run your games at the settings you like I would go with a 980 Classy KP -- or -- you could just get one now and save for another KP later.

If you need 2 cards to play at the settings you like then I would keep returning the cards until you are happy with them.

Re: My new EVGA GTX970 SSC (3975) (not satisfied) coilwhine (Video) 2015/04/24 23:00:21 (permalink)
I recently purchased a EVGA GTX 980 SC from Micro Center. I popped it into my computer and it had significant coil whine. I was so pissed I packed it up and sent it back to the store the next day. I received a replacement one (brand new out of the box), popped it in, and it had the exact same loud coil whine. I figured that the chances of both GPU's being bad were very slim. So I decided to replace my Corsair CX750M PSU with a higher quality Corsair AX760 and the coil wine went away completely. It is VERY possible that a poor quality PSU could be causing the coil whine. I would definitely check that out.

I replaced my 970 and the new card isn't as bad. It went away for the most part but every so often it whines for a few seconds and then goes away. So it also can be the card.

I don't know if this will actually do much for you, but i was getting the coil whine on my cards also. I noticed that the EVGA sticker was still intacked on the center of the fans (forgot to remove them - as it clearly says on them "remove before installation.) When i removed them, the coil whine went away. It may have been coincidence, I'm not sure.
