Is anyone else having issues with the displayport on the 980 still even after the beta drivers from nivida?

I'm still having the random disconnects and the blank screen problem after the windows logo.  This happens on my 2nd monitor as well. My primary monitor is the Asus PB 278Q.  I've had my card replaced once already for coil whine..this second now now for the displayport issue to see if it did anything..but alas my replacement has the same problem.

The beta drivers nvidia posted that ''fixed'' the problem made my issue worse. The beta drivers made it so I ended up having the additional problem of having to physically unplug the power cable and then plug it back in for the monitors to even detect the displayport source.

I didn't have this issue with my 2 970's when i briefly had them so I'm starting to lose my mind.  It's not a HUGE issue but its one that's driving me nuts at this point.

The bios update I was provided for my card by EVGA didn't resolve the issue either.

halp meh.

Bum card perhaps? Its usually the bios that does it, not so much the driver. If its not the monitor cable driver or bios then its gotta be the card no?

Well this is the 2nd replacement. I tried the bios they gave me, clean driver install, second monitor and even 3 seperate displayport cables. Every new driver release as well..just driving me nuts.

Got a 970 SSC yesterday and started using display port with that card. The first boot this day the screen was not on. A manual start and the monitor told me "no DP signal".
Tried to change the DP port on the card no effect. But after a reboot the monitor got a signal.

Is this the same problem I'm having?

If you rebooting solved the issue and it hasn't happened to you again... then no.

This issue is constant where the screen goes blank after the windows logo and then 3-4 seconds later it comes back at the login screen.

I've had problems with the displayport in general, even back with the GTX 680 and GTX 780 ti I'd still get a black screen on my 4k Monitor and would have to power cycle the display. I've come to tolerate that displayport issues will just be there. it makes me sad though :(

I had the same problem with my 980 SC while using ASUS PB278Q. I bought a new displayport cable and since then I haven't had any problems.

If you've already updated your BIOS, and you're still having issues, try changing the cable. Most DP problems are caused by crappy cables. Check that the one that you're using, or one that you're going to buy is on the approved products list from the DisplayPort Standards Group.

+1 to this or ask a friend who has a better cable if you could borrow it for troubleshooting.

In my case the screen is black (i think even during bios boot). And it stays black. Monitor tells me that it is not getting a signal. An the only way to get the picture back is to reboot. One time, i had to do several reboots before getting my picture back. Would say it is about 30% of the times this happens.

Can this problem also be cable related?

I was having a similar issue with my GTX 970 SSC+ and come to find out my monitors need a firmware update. Getting ready to send them in to get updated. I also went to the VESA compliant site and got a couple of the Accell cables. They are well made but since I was having the no signal issue even after getting those I still thought it was the cables. So maybe see if your monitor needs a firmware update or if there is one available from the manufacturer.

I don't have this problem but am curious... Do you turn off the monitor or just leave it in standby?
I am guessing that if you just let your monitor go to sleep (don't turn it off) there might not be a problem.

Well I've used 3 different cables and not cheap ones either.. and the issue never happened with my 970.  I've even tried it with another monitor and it works fine..so I have no idea at this point... all I know is I've tried everything I can.  Could it be my Asus monitor..sure maybe but  I'm dreading trying to setup a return with ASUS...per my last thread..their support is an epic fail.

Funny, my 980 FTW has (had) similar problems.  It will, at any given random time, Black Screen while using DP.  DVI or HDMI is fine.  The same monitor\lead combo while connected to my Classified is fine.

This thread is not the first that I've read regarding the FTW and DP problems.  Anyway, the FTW has been sent back (to the shop it was purchased) for a refund today and I will pocket the money spent on it.

I'm going to return my ASUS PB278Q for rapid replacement once ASUS has some in stock again.  It works fine with HDMI but that does me no good with 1440p.  It's just strange because while I'm open to it being the monitor.. the different drivers affected the problem and the issue never happened with my 970 FTW (both of them) when I had them.

My monitor pops like a cork if I use the dp cable, so I'm back to HDMI.

My monitor pops like a cork if I use the dp cable, so I'm back to HDMI.

yup that's exactly what mine does.. see this is why I don't think its my monitor.

I have the ACX 2.0 980, and none of the DP ports work. It's possible it's my monitor, but DVI works just fine. I get the "no signal" message on the screen, not even a flicker of the windows logo or anything else. I've tried new drivers, and rolled back to older drivers, one at a time.

I just keep on getting that feeling that Nvidia half-assed this series of cards. Seriously, a $550 graphics card should have everything working out of the box. I typically use DVI anyways, but it irritates me that the 3 DP ports do not send a signal to my monitor. I really hope AMD pushes out some spectacular card, so that Nvidia will have to put their best foot forward to compete. Right now, they're just lazy.

Sounds like it could be monitor issues since this is your second card. Try a different refresh rate, adjust both in Nvidia Control and Windows settings. Maybe you are running a refresh rate is not supported or you monitor is going out? Is gsync on? What does you monitor support and settings do you have the display ratio at? Is it during gaming only?  I know you don't want to hear it, I hate hearing it when my computer is down. "I haven't had any issues with my 980 FTW". I have it on a ASUS ROG. Things been nothing solid. Also have you OC it at all? Um does it happen when it warms up? Check temps? I am just throwing out ideas bud. In hopes you missed something. I read that you tried different cords. Download Precision and check you temps voltage etc. Hope it get resolved
