Hello all.

I had bought a 1070 SC from best buy that i returned so i could get the 1070 FTW instead.
First thoughts. The new cooler design is beautiful.  They basically have both ran very similar clocks the FTW is better by about 75hz using the K boost. But the FTW does cool alot better and has less throttling. How ever the FTW is one of the ones with coil whine :(   So i'm currently deciding between a straight exchange or going for a 1080 card.

Amuse me here. Not to sound like a smart ass. But, I must ask. If you wanted the 1080 in the first place. Because the price difference is significant compared to a 1070. Why would you have not gotten that in the first place? You keep returning like that. Best Buy will flag you and wont allow another return. Then you will have to go through the vendor's warranty service. You sound very undecided and playing around with cards. The 1080 is the clear choice from the start imo. You should be very pleased with it. Even a 1070 is pretty awesome. But, if playing past 1080p. I think the 1080 has that extra more oomph that is worth it when things get rough and running a high resolution. I have the vanilla version and could not be more pleased. Best card and first high end card I have ever owned.

I do understand the concern about Best Buy and returns. The SC card was purchased from BB.. The FTW was bought from Microcenter. So part of my reason for the return is i thought all of the EVGA custom cards came with RGB and had the larger fans. So between wanting that and the FTW being cheaper it was an obvious choice to return the SC.

Coil Whine is popular on those FTW cards, why I do not know. None of the reference cards have it.
