Thaks guys.

I had serious issues with gaming. Yesterday trying to play BFBC2 and F1 2010 and both games crash in about 10 minutes.
I was already about to start clean install windows this morning, but I thought I give it a try to try one more time, this time without Msi Afterburner running at back. And it works great.

Just drove one full race with Ultras on, and I can tell You, The game has never seen running smoother. And most of all, no problems with crossfire settings anymore, which was pure hell.

Then trying BFBC2, and atleast this time 15-20 minutes, no problems *knock knock knock* and this time only Evga Precision running at the back. 78C with 59% (auto) fans, or should I say Fanstastic!!!

I have to do some more gamimg, so that Afterburner was really the cause of everything.

And running my Evga GTX 580 SC in stocks, and thats enough for me.

I'm going your route, too (upgrading my Q6600 box). I'll be curious to see what overclocks you get with the 950. My experience with folding is that my overclock will have to be conservative in order to successfully fold everything that Stanford throws my way.

Well. 1st lets hope it run out from the box and then we think about overclocking, its over 10 years since last time having Intel processor, so have to check more carefully the OC

that Black Ops edition is probably one of the most epic kick ass videocards ever released IMHO. I like black components more than red theme or blue.

those are some solid numbers! be sure to do the fun unlocker bios update... gets you a little more voltage and a little more fan speed for cooling.

Great scores man. What a difference the Intel chip makes, almost 4000 more points. The i7's are still the best even after 2 years. They're good at folding too.

Asus Rampage 3 Formula - Intel Core i7 970 4013MHz
Prolimatech Megahalems
Patriot Viper Xtreme 3x4GB 1284MHz
HIS AMD 7970 (for now - I feel like I'm cheating on my girlfriend not running an EVGA card!)
OCZ Vertex 2 120GB - WD Black 1TB
Corsair AX1200 - Thermaltake Armor+
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 SP1

Thanks mwparrish... really happy with all products, thou my ex CPU+ Mobo were really good, not much difference in gaming. But benchies blew my mind

Not sure yet if I even need that. The Card is very silent already and still when I play/normal use, I keep it stock anyway.
3 runs with Heaven 2.1, stock clocks with SC and max temp was 80C with 59% fan (on auto)

"40 YEARS?There was no such thing as a handheld calculator 30 years ago.lol "

Sorry, You are incorrect. The first HP-35 handheld Sci calculator was introduced in 1972. That makes it 39-40 years ago.

"The HP-35 was Hewlett-Packard's first pocket calculator and the world's first scientific pocket calculator[1] (a calculator with trigonometric and exponential functions). Like some of HP's desktop calculators it used reverse Polish notation. Introduced at US$395[2], the HP-35 was available from 1972 to 1975." from wikipedia

I know, I bought one and paid $400 for it back then. Makes it about $4000 in todays money!

It was a hightech laptop of its time. You took that out from your pocket and officeladies throwing nylons at you. Just to make your egoboost, you can count 2 x 2 in no time.

Re:My first ever Evga... GTX 580 OC Black Ops is home 2011/01/01 06:21:49 (permalink)
This is not making new record scores, but I think I find a really good 24/7 everyday use for gaming and so on.

my CPU is OC´d to 3.8GHz with stock voltages and Evga GTX 580 SC Black Ops is undervoltage to 1.050V with desent OC 825 / 1650 / 4200 MHz
and its doing very well for results and specially heat and noise.

Im using MSI Afterburner fanprofile:
42C - 40%
59C - 58%
67C - 63%
77C - 65%
86C - 72%

My room temp is little bit normal higher, cos of our 10month old daughter, so just measured, its 23,2 -23,4C through testing.

Idle temps: 32-33C with 40% fanspeed

then 3 runs Heaven 2.1, 1920 x 1080, 4 x AA, 16 x AF, Normal Tesselation.
Max temps 73C with max 64% fanspeed
file:///E:/Testituloksien%20kuvia/unigine_20110101_1511.html
FPS: 50.1
Scores: 1262
Min FPS 34.2
Max FPS: 101.0

Then Vantage run,
P30796 (GPU 26256)
max temps 72C with 63% fanspeed

Little bit BFBC2 Gaming, 1920 x 1080, 4 x AA, 16 x AF, that first wintermap where tank comes.
max temps 70C with max 63% fanspeed
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max,  Avg
 32676,    289767,   62,  168, 112.766

Im just damn happy with this CARD. Its simply amazing.
Thank You Evga.

And Im just pretty damn happy with these settings, hopefully it is helpful to someone.
Thanks for reading.

and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011

Cant wait that I could get the fanlocker to work to give little extra juice for GPU.
But made a quick tests, and happy to brake 34k, 29k and 72k on the same run

Intel i7-950 @ 4200 MHz
Evga GTX 580 SC Black Ops @ 920 MHz / 4400 MHz
P34.280
GPU 29.149
CPU 72.653

I had a solid runs at 935 MHz, but somehow scores didnt get any better.
And weirdest thing; afterupdating the 3dmark11, I get all the time same result 6800... hmmm.

I Love this card
