Ran the SLI test using a standard SLI connector. Not sure how much of a difference the HB connector will make. I'm waiting on EK to release theirs.

Wow, thanks. Looks like I better save that $30 for the Titan!

Mr. Armageddon: Thanks for the Post. I was unable to snag an EVGA GTX 1080 SC but found a ZOTAC GTX1080 FE and added the EK block to it. The trick is to identify the pcb as a reference one. EK is starting to produce waterblocks for custom pcbs but the reference pcb which includes your EVGA SC gpu is the most standard. I ordered the backplate AFTER I had attached the block and installed it in my system so I will attach it later. I might have to mill out some of the backplate on the lower right hand corner as you look at the outside of the plate for clearance. Nonetheless I am getting similar and incredible temps @29-30C idle and low 40s when maxed and OC'd. I over-radded with 3 480s and a [link=mailto:5960x@4.4]5960x@4.4[/link] Ghz but the point is the waterblock works well. Some are complaining that a waterblock doesn't help the OC much and I think that is not so much the block as it is the limits Nvidia placed on the gpu to OC. However, one of the big complaints, initially, was throttling due to reaching the 83C mark when OC. That is eliminated with waterblocks. THAT is their value.

Mr_Armageddon

I finally got around to OC'ing my 2x 1080 FE's last night. Didn't take any screenies but from my notes: Both cards got +225 GPU and +575 MEM stable. Temp only went up about 2C under between stock (43C) and OC (44-45C). Unigine Valley results were a score of 4646 @ 111 FPS. Ran the tests @ 1920 x 1200 with Ultra qual and 8x AA. I managed to get the MEM up to +625 without crashing, but I think I was riding the edge of going down as the scores got worse. Backed off to +600, but also with worse scores so backed off again to return to +575. Ran the tests individually on both cards with similar results.
Yeah, sounds like the ECC was kicking in slowing things down as it corrected memory errors. Very nice temps! Out of curiosity, what do you get from the Extreme Valley preset? I ask because that test is 1080P, and my single 980 Ti (just got a Classified recently and OCed it to 1505/8000MHz) gets 109.8 FPS - so I would have thought SLI 1080's would get much higher, even at 1920X1200. Do you have SLI enabled?
I will have my new PCIe riser cable in tomorrow, and the new system will be ready to benchmark. Will definitely post here when I have some final numbers.

Just finished building the new system, and temps are even better. I was able to hit 4.8GHz on the 6700K fairly easily using a core voltage of 1.375, and temps never got above 58C during stress testing. I tried for 5.0GHz, but no matter how much voltage I threw at it, couldn’t get stable enough to run benchmarks, so stayed with 4.8GHz, which really isn’t that bad with the temps I am seeing. With the GPU the highest I was able to get and be 100% stable on the EVGA GTX 1080 SC, was a core clock of 2151MHz and Memory at 5500MHz. That’s not overly impressive compared to other GPUs in the past, but apparently the Pascal series cards already come out towards the peak of their frequency threshold. Even then, a 24% core clock increase over reference 1080 cards isn’t too shabby, especially being that my GPU temps have yet to rise above 40C. Once I had the CPU and GPU OC’d, it was time to throw some benchmarks and games at it. Ha, it does for at least the next few weeks! Thanks. Sneak peak at the almost completed build. Will hopefully have the "Final" pictures up this week. Until then, put together a little video showing the process of adding the Mayhem Blue Pastel concentrate to the hardline tubing loop. Project Open Core - Adding Fluid to Core P5 Hardline Tubing Loop

It's not just about FPS. What those charts don't show is that the real advantage of using the SLI HB bridge is to reduce microstuttering as well as maintain a much more stable frame rate. I was actually expecting FPS to drop as a whole and that doesn't bother me at all if that means having a much smoother and immersive gaming experience.

Just finished the build that goes to this particular GPU setup. Full build log can be found here, but here are a few of the final project pictures.

You can't judge by those benchmarks. In actuality they are proving that the bridge is doing its job. What you aren't seeing is that when you get the high FPS you are also getting bigger dips in low FPS. The bridge smooths every thing out. So instead of erratic high and low framerates you get much much smother rates resulting in slightly less FPS. What it lacks in FPS it makes up for in smooth performance.
