I was looking around in my old pix and found this. A long time ago (2003-04?) I had the Asus A7N8X-E., Poor thing died on me but I just didn't have the heart to throw it away. I mean, I really loved that board. So I had it propped up on my desk as a memento. One day I was at a junk yard and when I walked in the office I seen that the owner made a clock out of a hubcap. Nothing new but rather cool because when I asked him about it and he said it was from his first car that he had in his life and kept it. Like me, he kept it as a memento. I forget which one car he said it was from but anyways.... I got home and sat down at my desk to play some good ol FarCry on my new LanParty nForce 3 250G. During the load up time I looked over at my Asus Mobo and it hit me, HEY! I can make a clock out of it!! So I did....Check it out. And yes, it's still fully operable to this day

BTW....I recall how it rendered useless; I had bought the Asus 6800GT Ultra and I didn't plug one of the two molex connectors to it. Here was the result: FRIED!!!

Out of curiosity, how come you didn't put the clock smack dab in the middle of where the cpu goes? Personal preference maybe? Otherwise, an excellent idea to turn into a clock.

Well, personal preference would be in the middle and quite honestly that's generally or typically how you look at a clock. But...I'm a little "different" and I choose to be original. ... As I said this board meant a lot to me, and still does, so trust me when I say that I carefully planned out where I wanted the clock to go. I wanted to place the clock where I didn't have to remove anything. So as you can see all I had to do was drill a hole where it is now, while making sure the back of the clock could screw in and not having the little screws hit anything. Plus, I wanted the hands to turn freely. I know, I know...all this for a broken down 'ol board but....that's me.

You stole my idea. I've been taking old computer parts and making random things out of them. I have a hard drive USB charging station and a NIC charging dock for my phone.

USB charging station on a hdd? nifty... I took the platter cover off so you can see the internals. It looks cool to me, but I have to redo it because the power cable for the hub broke off from the solder points when I was fitting it.

Could this thread go under the Mod section? Probably not huh being that it's really not a "Modded rig"
