i finally got my evga geforce gtx 480 superclocked from a store called komplett.se however i can't say im happy with the packaging first off the main box came damaged the nice superclocked box which is VERY sad for me second off when i opend the anti static bag i saw no protection what so ever like i did with my gtx 285 black edition all i saw was a tiny plastic film on the top of the evga logo on the fan the evga logo on the heat sink was also badly placed as it's not alligned correct the card was also filled with fingerprints and scratches which made me almost cry if it had a big plastic film it wouldn't but it didn't all and all i am happy with this card i am it looks nice but im not happy that it looks used has a damaged box scratches and fingerprints ( i havn't tested it yet as im waiting for the rest of the parts for the pc) here are some pictures that picture was taken the second i took out the card notice the smudges in the corners i didn't touch that part of the card only the sides edit it seems somethings wrong with the box notice it's not the superclocked box bus just a regular vanilla box with a sticker (superclocked) on it i contacted the store regarding this so far no answer and i contacted that store like 6 hours ago edit:according to a moderator it's not fake we europeans just get the cheaper box for some reason thou the store i bought it from showed the different picture feels more and more like a rip off to me even thou it's only a box it's a bad first impression the small scratches in the shiny plastic also pisses me off and the fact that it had finger prints smudges i never felt this ripped off they put a protective film where it dosn't matter ontop of the evga logo on the fan the rest of the card is unprotected my gtx 285 black edition had a complete film on the whole thing and came in in 100% new condition this one looks like it's been used badly i wanted a new feeling when spending this much money but it feels like i bought it used

Did you order the card or go and pick it up at the store? It may have been a return.

Did you contact them and tell them about the damaged packaging? Wasv the seal broken on either end of the package?

That is extremely sketchy. I hope I'm wrong, but it looks to me like that shop opened a vanilla 480 box, flashed the BIOS so the card would have the same clock speeds as a SC card and put their own "SUPERCLOCKED" sticker on it... This is what the box/card is supposed to look like: http://www.evga.com/PRODU...15-P3-1482-AR_XL_1.jpg

I just think it's unlikely... why would they make a second, crappier box for European customers? If they are a big store, they should send you a replacement for sure. You should check the part number on the back of the box. If you have 015-P3-1482-AR, it's definitely a real SuperClocked card. 015-P3-1480-AR is the regular, vanilla 480.

well i checked it does say P/N: 015-P3-1482-AR so basically i payed like what was it 50$ extra to get a superclocked sticker on the box and a minor overclock that won't be noticeable in any game?

I would still return it if the box was open but I'm sure it's a relief to see that it's actually a SC 480. Why would there be a crappier version of the box though? Can anyone else confirm that there is a second box for the SC 480s? A lot of people get the SC cards because they think they'll get a chip that will overclock better than a vanilla chip. In reality, it seems to be the luck of the draw either way but people do say the SC cards have a better resale value.

i got it because of the box as it's unique with nice boxart which is the reason i wen't for a 285 black edition i mean if your going to spend tons of money who cares about a little more offcourse thats just me all though the overclock was a nice thing i would get aswell (no im not spoiled or rich i made my money myself but spending a little extra and get a unique box and a permanent overclock is great and the extra amount i payed wouldn't get spent on anything else either just lay there so why not) but getting the same exact plain box with a sticker with the word "superclocked" is sad i googled around i saw no box like that feels more and more like a chinese rip off to me

Wow... like joetreager said, I think someone just flashed a vanilla GTX 480 and put a bootleg picture of "superclocked". If they argue you have to pay a return fee I would threaten them for fraud. The box art is incorrect unless someone from EVGA would like to confirm if Europe gets a different box art.

Yeah theres something wrong there if they have a picture of the right box and you get a vanilla box with a superclocked sticker on it.And it might explain the scratches if they had to handle it to install it in a computer to change the bios.I doubt very much that evga is sending superclocked cards in vanilla boxes to europe and putting cheap ass stickers on them.

zzcool well i sent them an email regarding this like 3-4 hours ago so far no response PM me if you need the contact details for EVGA Europe. Also, that company is bound by European law to accept ANY return of ANY product for ANY reason within 14 days of purchase if you ordered it online and it was sent via mail. They are not only not allowed to charge a fee, they actually HAVE to pay for the return shipping cost. If they give you crap, contact a lawyer immediately and get some money off them for a second SC.

@twack3r i think i can find the details on evga.com btw i am only 16 years old (soon 17) so things like lawyers probably won't work also seems my edit didn't get saved i meant i sent "komplett.se" an email regarding this at first i sent an email explaining the scratches fingerprints and the box being damaged i got a reply how to return it with a couple of conditions after i found out that the box is not even right i sent another email explaining that theres somethign wrong with the box which i havn't got a response to yet i sent it around 13:00 it is now 16:53 here you can see my cart strange thing it says nothing about it arriving it just says sent which it shouldn't they actually messed up twice at first it says i would get it may20 which they say was a mistak before that they said that it would arrive may 1 for those who wounder why it says cancelled next to a vanilla gtx 480 that store had a date which was may 1st but they suddenly changed that date to june 1st and added the gtx 480 superclocked on the website so since both were arriving at the same time i changed my order to a superclocked thats why it says vanilla cancelled as i orderd a vanilla march 26th but that changed to a superclocked when they changed arrival time for both vanilla and superclocked

I wouldn't fret about this, I remember seeing a similar post complaining about the handling of the card and the box/art was the same with a generic SuperClocked sticker for the European version. This is more an issue with the difference in QA/standard operating procedures EVGA Europe uses compared to EVGA NA. Something as simple as having their workers wear rubber gloves is apparently overlooked and not required. I'll see if I can find the post to ease your mind a bit, but its almost identical to your OP, pictures and all. Picture of Box with generic "SuperClocked" sticker: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=313275 Same poster detailing the same complaints you've seen: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=315149 DragonX1979 Usually I wouldn't care - but in this case it resulted in many scratches on the polished plastic parts of the cooler, probably from the ESD-Bag... On both my cards I might add... In addition the cards were literally covered with fingerprints - hardly a reason to RMA them but still I think I should mention this - bcs It doesn't really made a good impression. So again, it sounds like this is normal SOP for EVGA Europe, so while it may be subpar compared to EVGA NA there may not be any real reason for concern especially if the card works. Pursuing return etc. may end up with resulting in unnecessary expense and hassle only for you to get another card with similar handling issues in return. I would go ahead and PM that user also to see how he finally resolved his problem.

zzcool @twack3r i think i can find the details on evga.com btw i am only 16 years old (soon 17) so things like lawyers probably won't work As long as you have reached the legal age in your country to sign a contract regarding a sale (which you have, it's 16 for the entire EU) you're fine. As to the lawyer's bills, talk to your parents about it. I'm sure they're not thrilled their son is getting ripped off. Also, there are some no-win-no-fee deals around, just do a bitte of google.se What I would however most definitely do, is threaten them with legal action RIGHT NOW. It won' affect your right regarding a refund or RMA, but it will most definitely put your claim on the fast track of being dealt with by lazy customer service drones.

I got this type of bs once from EVGA. Took the card home and it turned out to be a vanilla used card. Pissed me off. Luckily I bought it at the local Fry's, so I just took it back for another one. Call EVGA and threaten legal action if they don't deliver the goods you paid for. BTW, check the clock speed in precision. I almost bet you will find it running at vanilla speeds.

i will wait a little more to see what they say about this so far no answer which is very weird as they usually answer quickly but what bothers me the most is the way it has been handled the scratches on the card it just looks like i bought it used which is NOT what i wanted when i payed nearly 700$ as for the boxart that is a incredibly sad thing aswell could of mind aswell bought a vanilla overclocked it make a superclocked sticker put it on done i would have saved about 50$ i really hope this has a happy ending it's not like im rich which is the reason i had to sit on a pentium 4 for 7 months im also going to try to email evga about this

zzcool i will wait a little more to see what they say about this so far no answer which is very weird as they usually answer quickly but what bothers me the most is the way it has been handled the scratches on the card it just looks like i bought it used which is NOT what i wanted when i payed nearly 700$ as for the boxart that is a incredibly sad thing aswell could of mind aswell bought a vanilla overclocked it make a superclocked sticker put it on done i would have saved about 50$ i really hope this has a happy ending it's not like im rich which is the reason i had to sit on a pentium 4 for 7 months im also going to try to email evga about this Sticker difference is probably pretty simple, they just get a generic box and pre-binned cards from EVGA, they're not buying them from EVGA NA already binned as SC ready to ship. They then package the cards and box them after testing and flashing the appropriate BIOS, so this is probably where their handling procedures are hastily performed and result in the scratches/finger prints. Its just low quality control really. There's been quite a few complaints about the discrepancies between EVGA NA and EVGA EU, its important to keep in mind however they're separate entities and that EVGA EU is essentially a franchise. Anyways, check out the edit above from the user that had similar complaints and see how his situation was finally resolved. Here's more proof that most of EVGA EU's cards are just being binned and packaged as SC because most GTX 480s can hit that speed with relative ease. http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=314959 EVGA_ArneS We did ship something to UK but we got so few card for entire Europe that there is no real EVGA GTX 470/480 availability in Europe in a sense you can go and buy a card. If you pre-ordered early enough, you might got a product. The next batch - even smaller than the original one - will be delayed due to the cancellation of flights in Europe. Most cards we currently sell are Superclocked versions. Even though the amount of overclocking is not too high, we don't see the point of selling standard graphics card when we can manufacture products with a tad more performance.
