I'd return it to the etailer zz...make them pay for it, if EU law says you can get a full refund without paying to ship it back, and they won't stand by that law (the etailer) I'm betting there's a lawyer over there who specializes in that sort of thing. Keep all correspondence and logs of times and who you talked to...just in case you do need to talk to someone. But I'd seriously return it and either go to another etailer, or buy one you can find in hand that is in a like new box

Yeah sorry, thought you said the card worked OK, in any case I would go through Komplett as well first, if they cover cross-shipping even better. Just an FYI for everyone else implying Komplett is shady, that's like their version of Newegg, so I doubt its the retailer. Its EVGA EU at fault here imo.

It doesnt seem like you card was tampered with, it looks like it was raped :P. My RMA card came in the same exact way your card did. scratches, Dents, Chips, Strange reddish/orange residue on the heatpipes and no plastic film on it =). I was heartbroken to see a plastic sealed box come with a sealed card that looked like that. I had to send EVGA pictures and i am now in the process of returning it to them so this matter could be investigated/resolved. there was a post recently with someone who had the same problem so this is a common problem it would seem. I kept my mouth shut to not tarnish anyones name in any way or form but the cats out of the bag.

Hi this is what they say about this scratchy card ME HI I have problem with my new gtx 480 SC first think box of the card have different sticker(superclocked) than picture of the box on you site ,second however card was in plastic foil seal was doubled and broken, card and box have double sticker with serial number and third card is horribly scratch. what is going on I search forum and this is not first case I read about it from another users from different country all from EUROPE. I would like to have shiny new card not suspicious RMA product? Please answer what now? EVGA Peter Tersluisen This is correct. This comes from our initial delivery of cards which we re-certified to become SuperClocked cards. That is why the antistatic seal was broken, the stickers on the box, and the additional sticker over the back of the serial sticker. Your product is authentic and we put it thru at least the same anount of testing as would happen in the factory. Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards

wow 'recertified' so soon after launch? well if they wannad to do that they should have clearly marked at sales that this is a 'recertified' card and charge prices in accordance to that and not the price of a 'virgin' SC card

Its still just a sticker though. So basically EVGA NA gets a bunch of cards, bins them, sorts them, tests them and boxes them up with the appropriate sticker. EVGA NA sets aside some unbinned cards and sends them to EVGA EU and its up to them to do the same thing and bin/sort/validate them. Except apparently EVGA NA workers wears gloves and treat their products with more care while doing so.... In any case it looks like EVGA NA is shaking things up in the EU, I'm sure some of this poor QC from the EU branch is at least partially responsible for the changes, but it looks like the parent company is going to be taking a more vested interest in the EU branch's operation going forward. Hopefully they're able to do right by you and serve their customers better in the future!

zzcool i guess it's my fault for living in europe sadly That is what you get for living in EU, you guys laugh at us westerners all the time so now it is our chance to laugh back! Just kidding. Well I read almost every post in this thread and my opinion is that you should really get that card installed ASAP, test it out 100% with OC Scanner, Vantage, gaming, torture test it THOROUGHLY (but don't use that furmark crap). If it works WELL try a few overclocks if you get a good overclock and you put it through its paces then I would definately keep it. The most important thing as canauzzie pointed out is having a good working card. I myself have 2x480 HC FTW cards and after 3-4 days of testing GPU1 died on me, with only 1.15v applied and using OC Scanner it didn't even have artifacts. EVGA was great getting me a replacement and tested card quickly. Again I think the most important thing is that you have a GOOD card, so get to testing there is nothing to lose you already opened it anyway. Also the hassle of trying to RMA to that company that isn't even responding to you is probably not worth it for a couple scratches that I can't even see if your pictures.

Are you seriously saying it is a concern because the sticker is not in the exact same place? That's really quite funny and extremely "anal/picky" I'd be more worried about a great card that has great OC potential than any stupid sticker. Hell our most expensive 480 HC FTW came in a brown shipping box with just a poster like insert, and you can ask any 480 HC FTW owner we are quite happy with it!

chizow I would agree with the others that if you are buying new, you should get new, however, my concern is that you're going to go through a lot of hassle and expense to only find out this is just how EVGA Europe handles their hardware and end up right back where you started. I've just seen far too many reports of similar concerns about EVGA EU and already linked to one user report stating the same thing. If you want more anecdotal evidence just head over to the warranty sub-forum and scan for EVGA EU horror stories. Simply put, if I lived in Europe I do not think I would have any preference for EVGA parts, I would just go with any other vendor that offered competitive price and satisfactory warranty. The problem I see consistently here is that EU customers are expecting the same quality of service we see from EVGA NA and are consistently disappointed. Just my 2 cents. Hopefully you get the situation worked out to your satisfaction OP, just trying to save you more unnecessary expense and potential disappointment, especially given you've already stated the card works fine. How did the OP state this if he does not even have all the parts to test the rig? OP I would try calling EVGA EU and explain this to them carefully forget about the box because the whole point here is that you paid a lot of money for a new product and therefore you should get a new product not something that looks to be manhandled. If the company expects a person to pay $700 for a item they should at least make sure it's in good shape before leaving there facility.

zzcool thankfully i did send it back im getting my brand new one sadly in 2 weeks or more but im glad i got rid of it thank god but who knows the next card i get might be the same as it seems they overclock stock ones to superclocks then i could mind aswell buy one used and to the other guy yes i am also VERY "anal" when i spend almost 1000 dollars for parts You will hopefully get your card way earlier. Komplett Nordic have confirmed 12 480 GTX SC in stock as of right now. So *crosses fingers* :) Both of my cards are on their way now. Lets just hope they don't look like your card.

I was also very dissapointed with the packing of my 470 SC's. Look very cheap. Sam kind of vanilla box with some taped omn Super clocked sticker on it. Both boxed had broken seals and in one of the boxes the HDMI cabels and the stickers were missing. All in all I got the impression of a low quality product compared to other brands I have had before. I also bough my cards from Komplett.se.
i7 920 @ 3.7Ghz Rampage II Extreme, 6GB Kingston HyperX T1 2000Mhz @ 1900Mhz, Corsair HX850, Corsair H50, CM Cosmos S, EVGA GTX470 SC SLI
