zzcool so basically i payed nearly 700$ for a badly used card with a cheap alternative box and this was my first evga card :( That's one way to look at it..... The other is to look at it like you bought what EVGA Europe considers satisfactory in terms of QC for a new card. Tough call I know, the problem here is you're comparing and basing your expectations off what you've seen/read with EVGA NA, so while you may be able to get some kind of exchange, this may involve considerable expense (shipping, restocking fee, time with no card etc.) and the end result is that you may just get another card with the same issues. Is there some Swedish hardware site that you can sample users to see if their cards had similar scratches/fingerprints? If so...I'd just chalk it up as being par for the course with EVGA EU cards and take that into consideration next time you decide to buy.....

I have bought all my evga cards at the Dutch Komplett site and had new stuff all the time so its not standard procedure to get used/handled cards. I do know the US and EUR boxes can be different, i had one US 285 and the packaging and box art were not the same as the EUR one i have. maybe because the 400 cards are hard to get they put every card they have in the sale channels, i dont have my 480 yet so i cant check if its the same as yours.

Well I hope you get this problem resolved to your satisfaction. Here in the states we wouldn't accept packaging like that however I'm not familiar with how things work in your part of the world. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease so stay at it until its resolved.

That is a normal superclocked sticker for cards sold in Europe. The outer seals on the box should have been intact as well. It should also be running at the Superclocked clocks.

I don't really care about the box art, the card is the issue for me...If it's damaged and I bought it new (I consider scratches damage, thanks), it makes me mad. The box is inconsquential. Who cares about the box art? It's a piece of cardboard I throw in my closet. I'd be all over your retailer and eVGA though. Edit: Addendum: When I RMA a card after a few months (if I have to) and I get a recert, I don't complain UNLESS the recert doesn't work or dies quick. When I buy it new, I expect it new.

maybe if it was only the box i wouldn't feel so ripped off but the fact that my card looks VERY used when i bought it new is what makes me feel totally ripped off and the fingerprints just tells me that someone has used it before i have no idea thou scratches also pisses me off so if it was only the box and the card was in perfect new condition i may have let it go edit:so far no answer from them

I don't think anyone has said it yet, but you can easily tell if it is a real SC edition card or not by REGISTERING IT ON EVGA. It will pop up whether or not the S/N number is really that of an SC card or Vanilla. End of that debate.

It is the same box, different superclocked sticker attached to the box. The US box is also a superclocked sticker, just a different one. If you feel the card is in poor condition, I would suggest returning it immediately.

yes i want to return it but so far i gotten no response from the store "komplett" the card had smudges fingerprints and it has small scratches in the shiny plastic the box came came damaged aswell sides damaged etc and it was protected when i got the card with air bags around it these are not huge things but paying nearly 700$ i expect a card in 100% perfect conidition same with the box so i really hope they respond soon this never happend with my xfx gtx 285 black edition as it has a protective film ontop of the whole thing so nothing would get it scratched or smudged

not to be argumentative...but my FTW's did not come in a fancy retail box.....i keep my boxes too....and it is nice to see good box art....but really all i care about is that it works.....they could have sent it to me in a pink box with purple poka-dots that looked like it came out of a meat grinder....as long as the card worked......it was the right card.....and evga thanked me for registering a FTW..... however the scratches and fingerprints is a very poor business practice....and if they beat it up that bad to bin the card, set the clock, and check for the stability....i would hate to see what they would do to it putting a water block on it.... good help is hard to find....and i would chalk it up to that.... as unfortunate as it is....but if jacob would have sent me a pm....and said he could send me a FTW a week sooner if i would accept some scratches and fingerprints....with same warranty....i would have jumped at it...and paid full price ....no problem.....cause at the end of the day ....i stare at my monitor....not my video card....but that's just me....

Bottomline is..........you paid for a new card so you should get a new card. If the box has been opened.....then its NOT new. If the card was handled and tampered with......then its NOT new. Period. I wouldn't put up with that.....send it back.

I would agree with the others that if you are buying new, you should get new, however, my concern is that you're going to go through a lot of hassle and expense to only find out this is just how EVGA Europe handles their hardware and end up right back where you started. I've just seen far too many reports of similar concerns about EVGA EU and already linked to one user report stating the same thing. If you want more anecdotal evidence just head over to the warranty sub-forum and scan for EVGA EU horror stories. Simply put, if I lived in Europe I do not think I would have any preference for EVGA parts, I would just go with any other vendor that offered competitive price and satisfactory warranty. The problem I see consistently here is that EU customers are expecting the same quality of service we see from EVGA NA and are consistently disappointed. Just my 2 cents. Hopefully you get the situation worked out to your satisfaction OP, just trying to save you more unnecessary expense and potential disappointment, especially given you've already stated the card works fine.

yea to be honest i feel pretty betrayed by the way they threat european customers (no offence to evga nor fans) as for that store it has tons of good reputation i don't see why i couldn't send it back they even told me the day i got it when i said i wanted to send it back that i could send it back but on sirtin conditions and i don't want to pay any extra money or the shipping i simply want to get rid of it and get a brand new back simple as that i don't see why they would refuse to do that it's in the exact same condition as it was when i got it only thing opend is the anti static bag thats it the rest is unopend as for the card works fine when did i say that? i don't even know if it works at all i havn't connected it as i can't the only thing i did was open the anti static bag took it out looked at it with dissapointment and put it back in and back in the box i barely even touched it i wanted to buy xfx as i was very happy with my gtx 285 black edition the customer support they offerd (oh god that support was amazing they were so nice) the way everything was protected and packaged but it turns out xfx betrayed nvidia users so i found out about evga offcourse i knew about the company but not so much to bad i didn't get that box thou i wanted to have a nice box on display like i did with my xfx one but i guess that won't happen as i got the cheaper one i guess it's my fault for living in europe sadly
