Hi, I was thinking about something lately and wanted to know if anyone can give
me an answer to this... Just a disclaimer, that I have posted some similar questions to a few forums recently
but could not get any kind of real answer so I was hoping somebody here can help me out.
Perhaps it's just too stupid of a question, in that case I do apologize.

Right now I have 2 EVGA GTX 980 SC in SLI and I have an
Asus Rog Swift monitor. It works great and I notice no tearing but also I don't
notice any real bad frame time and variances either...

I know that going 1 or 2 more GPU for 3 to 4 way SLI and Quad fire or Triple Eyefinity has some
serious tearing and stuttering and frame time and variance issues. I was wondering if G-sync or
Free-sync would help mitigate these issues? If so by how much? enjoyable real
world playing? Could you rate from 1 to 10 (10 being greatest) compared to a
super smooth 100 fps 1 GPU experience on a G-sync or Free-sync
monitor?

Nothing? Maybe it was dumb question. I guess I just need to try and find out myself.

My understanding in your case because you are using gtx980(Nvidia gpu) so you have to go for g-sync type monitor , the free-sync supports AMD gpu only. Second thing is depend on which diag screen configurstion you like such as 21:9 or regular 16:9 . The 21:9 config is more expensive and its limitation of resolution that can not go 4K . I've seen around they say with g-sync support it's smoother....

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I do understand that Free-sync is for AMD only for now but I think they plan to make it a free to use for Nvidia as well down the line. Some of the monitors lined up and ready for launch seems very tasty. I especially like the 34um67 with it's ultra long format or the 4k units. I am very happy with 2 980's at 1440p as for now since I can basically max out most things with a very high refresh rate and FPS but it's not going to cut it for 4k gaming in the future I don't think...

It's good to know that people are having good luck with G-sync with multiple GPU's and 4K. I was just concerned because going from 2 to 3 GPU's seemed to have a considerable negative affect according to review sites.
