Hi guys,
Been trying to tackle this issue for a few days with no luck.

Tried a lot of stuff but haven't had any luck and today I noticed that when i turn the motherboard on, it goes straight to FF.
No beep, nothing.  No signal goes to the monitor.  Can't get the computer started.  Was working just fine a few days ago.  I installed a new HDD and everything booted fine.  I installed Win7 on the new HDD, again, no problem and now it doesn't seem to want to boot.  Everything turns on, all the fans spin but no beep and no boot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Welcome to the Forum, Guy.

Instant FF is a hardware issue. Sounds like you may have knocked something loose or something is grounding out from adding the new HDD. Carefully go thru all your interface and power connections.....unplug and replug them if, necessary.

    What are your specs?

Some first things to check.  Check the bios chip and press down on it.  Sometimes they can come loose.

Try pulling the cmos battery for 10 minutes.

Try unplugging the new hard drive from the motherboard.

    Okay...
So this is what I have tried....

    1.  Unplugged everything, all Sata drives, RAM, just left the video card and CPU in and retried.  Nothing worked.

    2.  I did try taking out the video card with the HDDs and RAM in and that didn't work either.

    3.  Replaced the heat sink on the CPU because i noticed the fan on the old heat sink wasn't working properly.

    4.  Took out the motherboard battery (not for 10 minutes thought)

    5.  Changed the "CMOS" jumper to pin 1 and 2 for a few moments and then back to 2-3.

    The specs....
I have 5 HDDs in the PC, all hooked up via a PC.
    Q9550 Intel Quad Core CPU
    4GB RAM

What else can I tell you guys??

Alright, so i left the CMOS battery out for a few hours (took it out and went out).

Then i plugged it back in and restarted and VOILA!!  It booted!  Then i got a "Floppy disk fail error (40)" and "F1 to Resume".
    Pressed F1 and it started.

Got a pop up saying "You need to format A: drive to continue" once windows started, but i don't even have a A drive so wasn't sure what the problem was.

Checked the BIOS and it had a floppy drive in there, don't know why or how.  But now i have switched it back to "none".

Going to run another few checks and take it from there.

    Thanks A LOT!!!
If NICK hadn't told me to take it out for 10 mins, I would've continued banging my head against a wall trying to purchase new components for the computer.

Yes....when completely resetting the CMOS, the battery needs to be removed for a minimum of 10 mins. Make sure that you reset the proper date and time in the BIOS or you will have issues with Windows.

Didn't do that.  Will check it out just to make sure it's all okay.

But yeah, Windows was giving me an "Activate your copy of Windows" message.  So i'm guessing it's probably cause of that.

Thanks a lot guys for the pointers.  Saved me a lot of money!!

    Thanks a lot once again!!

The date was off and I fixed it.  Made the "Windows Activation" issue go away!

Computer is up and running fine now.  :)

    1. turn your computer off and unplug it from the wall
    2. check the 8 pin plug from the PS to the motherboard (disconnect and reconnect)
    3. check your BIOS chip and be sure its well seated (press down on it with your thumb, it should not move)
    4. remove all of the memory chips but leave one in closest to the CPU
    5. disconnect all internal components (HD, floppy, memory readers and)
    6. remove the video card
    7. now with the bare mobo and 1 memory stick with the 8pin connected and the 24 pin connected -> plug the PS back into the main AC--> note the color of the LED that indicates the mobo has good power --> it will be blue, If you see a red LED, reseat your CPU
    8. depress the power on button on the mobo and note the LED's, if you jump straight to FF you may have a bad mobo, if it counts past FF you are good to go.
