I know this is something a chimp should know but This is stumping me. I have a single 980 classy installed, cables are connected correctly, windows seems to be booting up although i cant see it as the monitor doesnt seem to be receiving the signal from the card. I remembere this happening before and I fixed it but just don't recall how.

what had happened was what sounded liked a Nvida driver crash but I could not get the system back up and it went into a reboot loop. I replaced my hd and did a fresh install of windows and that did not help. so I decided to simply get new cards as it was about that time anyway.
  I have switched to different monitors as well as tried both DVI connections on the card. I was able to get the monitor so simply go right into power saving mode though. I do hear windows coming up though I just cant see anything.

yeah, i just switched them and get the same message. seems the monitors are just not getting a signal from the cards. I have also switched monitors incase it was a bad cable.

Is your video card in the primary PCI-E slot?

Reset your BIOS with the clear CMOS button and see if that helps.

checked power and all seems good, even plugged the PS right into the wall and i still get the same message that there is no signal coming from the computer.

I don't have a 2nd system to test them on. I am wondering if i should just replace the mobo.
 

What monitor are you using?

Remove all RAM except one stick and run that stick in the DIMM_D1 slot, which is the slot second closest to the I/O shield. If that stick doesn't work, try a different one in the same slot.

well, i put one of the 580s back in and boom. i got a mobo screen.
 

tells me its 1101 x64

welp.. looks like it was the bios. got it updated then installed the 980 and it came right up.
