I had to run a modded bios, but these cards with the tdp raised up a bit run really very good.  I'm up against the power limit again on the card....it can't draw any more from the 2 x 6pin and the motherboard.  Peak temps were at 36c, under water, ambient room temp at 24c.

This is set to search at "5820k" and "2 x 970"

This is set to just search "2 x 970"

Shouldn't have limited these cards to 187 watts, EVGA.....

That is why they came out with the 970 FTW+.  I got two of them and they are amazing, I don't run into power limits :)

Velllinious = my score.  EVGA has the number one position for "5820k" and "2 x 970".

I used the 970FTW bios from Zoson's thread on the overclock.net forums.

Actually, I found that one added a lot of throttling once I got the clocks up where I want them.  I started using my own version, that allows for better clocks, without the core clock bouncing at all at 1593 on firestrike and 1590 in firestrike extreme.  This will be specific to the card / cards though.  Some will run higher clocks at 1.262, some will run lower....

Seems like 1.262v is the magic number.  The 1.281 they have in those tables throttles the clock speed up top terribly bad, and causes a lot of issues and worse scores.  The best option, staying within the power limits of the card is to reduce clock speed until it doesn't bounce around during testing.

I'm getting close to the top scores for "any processor" and "2 x 970".  Really close.
