Huh. I just downloaded the one you linked to Raku, but the file version for the installer says it is version 1.0.1611.0 which I already have. I don't get it. Anyone else? Should I just uninstall my current version and install the "new" one and hope that it is indeed a newer version? EDIT: Huh. I can't find any mention of this newer version on Microsoft's website. The only links I can find for this newer version are on third party websites. I wonder if this "new" version is spyware/malware/virus related. Can anyone confirm that the file downloaded from Microsoft's website is indeed 1.0.1961.0 or whether it is 1.0.1611.0? If it is still 1.0.1611.0, then it has not been updated and I am suspicious of the claims of a new version. Microsoft Security Essentials v1.0.1961.0, February 26, 2010 - http://bit.ly/9vAmAL%3C/a%3E%3C/font%3E Sunday, Feb 28 by WarezFever@twitter.com (Warez-Fever) EDIT 2: Meh. I don't get it. Just for fun, I downloaded the same file again overwriting the one I just downloaded, and now it says it is version 1.0.1961.0. So, huh...? Well, I will uninstall my current version and try it out.

raku2040 ^^so is it rectified.....have the latest version now??? Yeah. It was a strange fluke I guess. I am not sure. Well, I did a manual search of Microsoft's website and then downloaded the file from that versus the link you posted. But the file name was the same from both locations so I assume that it is the same file. Not sure what happened.
