There seems to be some kind of memory leak going on. The memory usage increases over time.

Noticed it running at 880,000k mem usage after playing a game for a few hours. I restarted it, it goes back to normal at around 56,000k memory usage. So I let my computer sit there for around 30 minutes while I watched a show, didn't run any game or anything. Came back and its at 103,000k now.

Anyone else getting this? I am using windows 7 64bit SP1, evga GTX 980.

Are you sure your units are correct? You say kilobytes. Maybe you mean bytes?

The reason I ask is because 54 megabytes seems like a lot from the start. Then ballooning up to 860 megabytes is insane. It uses 54 megabytes just to open it? That's crazy from the start.

If 100,000k equals 100mb, then yes it nearly hit 1gb of memory since it actually went as high as 880,000k and I dropped from a total of 3.6gb to 2 something after closing it. I mean bytes, there's just a K next to the number in windows task manager.

Is anyone else getting this problem? My EVGA PrecisionX 16 is up to 138,000k now from 103k from when I made this thread as well and I haven't ran any games or anything. This is definitely a memory leak, at least on my end it is. I hope I'm not the only one getting this... ?

1024 kilobytes equals 1 megabyte.  So, not quite 1000 = 1.  That's why my numbers are different than yours.
Regardless, that is an insane amount of usage.

Here's a screenshot. Program launches with about 56,000 bytes, I let it sit there for a few and it went to 103, then 138 about an hour later, I just played a game for a couple of hours and now its at 452,000 bytes. It must be a memory leak. The longer it stays open the worse it gets.

I can confirm this as well. I finished installing it this morning and stepped away from the PC for 3-4 hours. When I came back, the system was very sluggish, so I checked Task Manager and saw that the 64-bit PrecisionX executable  was using over 3.5GB of memory. No, that is not a typo, I mean gigabytes.

It also crashed VLC Media Player whenever they were both running at the same time. I've also noticed that they removed the ability to assign each hardware monitor option to a label of your choosing on the Logitech LCD display. You used to be able to have them listed under custom names for each line, so I had line one named GPU for GPU Temp and usage, line two for the memory usage that had 'MEM' as the label, and a third line labelled 'FAN' for the fan percentage and RPM.

I can confirm, I had noticed today after I had my system on all day with no gaming, only chrome loaded the entire day, it had maxed out the page file at 12 gigs, and it was still trying to expand it.

Somethings wrong, thats for sure, even when I start it fresh its over 80k, and within a few minutes its over 200k, and climbs like crazy, right now its been up for 45 minutes, and its at 1,028,004k.  Yes, you read that correct.

Heres the imagegrab a few minutes later than when I snagged that crazy large number.

I've also noticed my cards (SLI) never seem to go into p12, they only go between p8 and p0 every 2 seconds, this is causing my temps to be higher than they usually are during times the cards are supposed (and used) to be idle with older versions of the software.

Either way, I'm fairly disappointed and I think I'll revert back at least 2 major versions that actually worked correctly.  You really should beta test your software before you release broken useless software.

Memory leak after running for a couple of days, NO games played during this time:

    After restart:

With Chrome (and ONLY chrome) running, cards are at 46*/49* - they generally sit at ~mid to high 30s with fans @30% or less.  After 10 minutes of precisionX 16 running (after leak restart), already up to 1.6GB memory usage.

ETA: uninstalled X 16 and installed 4.2.1 - temps @ 30*/34* with fans @ 30% and Chrome running, precision 4.2.1 using 10MB.  New version can DIAF.

I was using 5.2.3 and had updated only a handful of hours prior.

I couldn't easily find the old 4.2.1 version of Precision X, so I opted to give MSI Afterburner (v4.0.0.4604) a try. It's got almost the exact settings and options as 4.2.1 and even includes a few more. But better yet, it's using less than 16MB according to Sysinternals Process Explorer. I haven't tried any skins just yet, but everything else is so great I seriously doubt I'd go back to Precision X even if they did fix all the bugs.

Can confirm this issue with 5.2.3. Tried re-installing drivers downclocking and overcloking, turning osd off an on. My system specs are windows 8, 16 gigs TridentX @ 2400 Mhz, 3770k and dual 780 Tis. When switching between cards, changing the settings the memory increases with no limit from the looks of it.

Very strange, I am testing the current release right now on a X99 Classified with a 770 ACX in Heaven and the usage of Precision hasn't twitched, the server portion is around 5mb, the app itself is about 10.
I will leave the test going for a while and check back in on it.

I am also running Windows 7, not sure if any of you are.

I just checked back, no real change, the memory use varies a little, couple hundred K up or down which is normal.

Can you guys who are experiencing this issue go over what all settings you are using, what driver version and what Windows version so I can see if I can find the source?

Hi, (I started the thread) I don't get this issue with 5.2.3. It was definitely a problem with 5.2.0 but I've had my computer on for around 36 hours and I don't see any problems at all regarding memory issues with 5.2.3.

I'm using 344.16, gtx 980, win7 64bit. No memory issue with 5.2.3 for me, but this problem definitely exists for 5.2.0

Hmm, I'm on Windows 8 with geforce drivers 344.11, sli seems to be the cause of it. My specs are in my sig. I have 2 cards, and switching from one card to the other causes the memory to rise indefinitely. Only soft that was running beside it is kaspersky and asus xonar drivers, but highly doubt either of those conflict.

Same here... I am using 5.2.3, it hit the 2+gigabytes.  Sorry I do not have a screen shot.

Restarted and I can see the memory usage is slowly increasing.

Default settings, except the fan curve.

    Windoze 7 SP1 64-bit.

Latest WHQL 344.11 drivers from Nvidia.  SLI might be the cause, as the other person mentioned since we are both experiencing the issue, while you are not.
