The laptop is using a GTX870M. This card is very similar with the GTX660 Ti in the desktop world, so is a powerfull mobile card, a powerfull mobile card for 1080p gaming...
I think that the prefect resolution for "Laptop Gaming" is 1080p. I don't know why laptop manufacturers put these high resolution screens in laptops without correct hardware to run them... The same laptop with a 1080p one will be really good for gaming, or a lag beast with a 3k display...
You can allways play your games on low... but I think that If you burn that kind of money on a "gaming laptop" that can't run yout games at aceptable framerates is a bit... ouh!
