Basic run down;
Two sets of SLI 980's getting 29+k on 3 different MB's with same base components and now only getting 22+k (graphics scores) and my overall score has gone down approx 3k +/-.

I tried the drivers that got the higher scores and no change. The cards I'm now using are RMA units.
I did get 29k runs on my 1st pair of KPE's but not on this set to save my life.

Boards used for the 29k runs are;

Z87 ASRock Extreme 6 with a 4770k at 4.8
Z97 Asus Maxiumus Formula VII with a 4770k at 4.8
Z97 EVGA Classified with a 4790k @ 4.8

The 22k board is a Z97 Asus Deluxe ...... I also managed a run on the EVGA that needs to be RMA'd for ram slot issues at 22k.

The rest of the build info is;
32gb Gskillz at 2400MHz
Evo 840 1TB
EVGA 1200P2 or SeaSonic 1200 Plat
980's = Zotac Amp! Extreme or EVGA KPE

The cards I'm using now are the KPE's underwater.

They seem to be locked at 110 fps regardless of vsync or settings in the NVidia control panel. I have an Acer XB270HU 1440 144MHz monitor set for 144 refresh.

The reason I say it seems locked to 110 fps is that during the first test it mostly stays at 110.0 with a couple flickers to 110.6 - 111.

They score doesn't really change at all with a +100/+495 overclock either. I'm using the std card bios and have tried all 3 with no real differences. They never get over 55c.

Any thoughts?

Different Graphics Drivers, Windows Updates, Virus Software, Age of the Video Card can all add to Benchmarks Score Changes.
Back when KB2670838 was released it dropped my scores even lower.
Do you have any links to your Scores? Or Scores ID's?
Also you can change the Cards on the MB and this will also change your Scores.
Even a Bios update can change it as well, and more so that you may have forgotten to put a Setting Back after the Update.
Also look at your CPU and PhysX (Physics Test) Scores, I see this being a big change in scores too.

I understand that. But when compared to others with the same OS/cards/basic system setups (I know thars ALWAYS variables) to be on average 3000 points higher overall scores and being frame locked (seems so anyway) at 110 something seems fishy.

And that score is right in the ball park of my previous other two sets of cards with no OC.

I can buy the lottery sale when it comes to OC ability but when you compare ANY number of stock clocked cards even across various cpu types you won't see a 7000 drop in the graphics side or 3000 overall difference...... 1000 points maybe on the overall depending on the system more so than the card.

If you look the above two scores you will see a different versions of the SysInfo, Driver, Clock Speeds, Memory Speeds, Different CPUs and Different CPU Clock Speeds.
I think your scores are ok for the most part, they will never be the same even if you run the test 3 times in a row.

I can tell you that the CPU's were clocked at 4.8 on both of those runs ... wait, 4.9 on the 17999 run with a higher (5MHz) clock on the lower overall BUT the killer here is the graphics test's 1 and 2, that's a 28% difference, not peanuts by any means.

I know the drivers are different and I tried older ones (not 347.09 yet) with no better luck. Those two runs should be within 500 to 800 points of each other not 2340 apart. The 4790k system is stronger exactly where it should be and by the amount you should expect.

If you look back through my history (and I knew this anyway) you'll see no two runs are the same but they are consistently in that 500-800 point range.

Until now I didn't even know I could see those layouts and wow now I'm convinced there's a graphics processing issue. What it is I'm not sure obviously and that's what I'm trying to get help figuring out. Like I said 28% difference with 5MHz more core and 25MHz less on the memory is well, more than anyone should expect especially when you look at % of difference of all the scores.

One of the changes in the last few weeks made on 3dmarks web site was you can now view 3 Scores to compare.

Also my link above they are not the same cards, I just noticed that.

The thing is my 980 Zotac's actually performed better on average by a 2-300 points (overall) on the lesser 4770k system than these KPE's do.
I truly understand no two systems and thus runs will be equal and that's not what I'm expecting. I am expecting performance on par with the average which so far I'm seeing is (comparing similar system specs and settings expecting +/- variances) not even close to the two previous KPE's I had and far below the average 980. Heck, I went back and my worst SLI score was 139xx with these cards on the EVGA Z97 Classy board but only 16GB of ram as this board is going back for a ram slot issue.

If I was only scoring 19500 with a graphics score of 29500-31000 that I could accept but when I see 28% less frame rates something is not right I'm just going bonkers trying to nail it down.

IF this was common place with a driver change you know I wouldn't be alone here.

Sounds like you have a program running in the background that is causing your FPS to be capped.

I was thinking the same thing but I'm looking at my processes and can't figure what it might be.

Trying to shut processes off and test ... still no luck I even went back to 344.88 drivers ....... COULD having the higher ASIC card in the slot with most bandwidth make a diff?

The only utility I have installed is Precision and GPU-Z neither is running.

I'm convinced something is capping the frame rate. I can run stock clocks and it runs to 110 +/- and if I add 100 to the core no change and that's not right.

Keep in mind this is on a 100% fresh build as of yesterday with ALL Win 7 Pro updates done.

No. Perform a clean boot of windows to see if it helps remove the cap.

COULD having the higher ASIC card in the slot with most bandwidth make a diff?

No. Perform a clean boot of windows to see if it helps remove the cap.

Now I have no internet to connect to 3dmark. :laff:

Using wireless? I run my system in clean boot 24/7 and can connect to the internet just fine, however, i'm connected via ethernet cable.

Ok. Try doing the following to see if it helps fix the cap...

#1 Download ddu and clean your gpu drivers completely out in safe mode.

#2 Perform a clean installation of video drivers.
    1. Uninstall Precision X/Afterburner if installed, make sure to select "no" to saving profiles if asked.  Reboot the PC now if you had to uninstall PX or Afterburner.
    2. Download & save graphics driver 347.09 to your desktop. Run the graphics installer located on your desktop once the download is complete.
    3. Select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options except the physx system software, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point please select both 3D options, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked.

Nope .... I can but I'm on duel ethernet and now Steam is closing down when I launch FS.

Just ran Sniper Elite 3 and pulled 86 fps when it should be around 108-111 on this system from the 100+ runs I've done.

Zero issues there....... I have 960x60mm of rad space push/pull with 2x EK PWM 3.2 pumps ... my cpu is direct to die and if you look at my CPU temps via FS they are flat line .... my MB is always at most 3c over ambient and my CPU hasn't hit 70c that I know of.
I just had my first BSOD in recent memory most likely because of all the service shut down .... :dunno:

I've been running all this basic hardware (having BAD board luck recently so that's the variable other than the RMA'd KPE's) since early 14 with minor upgrades in things like cooling, PSU, case, SSD's but NOTHING has ever been a step back and everything QUALITY! ;)

Is it possible that these cards have been frame rate locked? I mean they have never done a run over 110 in FS since I've got them.

Even in Sky Diver it's capped at 110.

Not that it will solve your problems, But Dump the Windows 7 and install Windows 8.1 which will improve your scores on Fire Strike.

Once I get this fixed I'll go back to a duel boot.

I'm thinking it's either a DP to mini DP issue or a issue with the monitor at this point. I'll swap monitors tonight and see what happens.

    Well, it's the monitor.

I swapped to a 1080 60hz monitor and got normal runs in.

Could my DP cable be the issue?
