Hi all,

Im ready to upgrade my 3 22 inch monitors for 1 possibly 2 27inch ones.

I'm looking at the Asus PB278Q 27 inch but before I decide on it I was wondering if anyone had or would recommend something different.

I know there are lots of people happy with the Korean imports like Yamakasi, BenQ, and Qnix etc. and they usually run slightly cheaper. Any opinions?

27inch is the size range I like and it needs to be IPS for editing.

Heatware
EVGA P55 Sli - Intel i5 750 @ 4GHz
16gigs Gskill Ripjaws DDR3 @1600mhz
EVGA GTX 660ti 3GB x2
850W G2 EVGA PSU
2x 27" ASUS LCD's

Ultimately, if you're looking at it for colour-critical work, I guess the best place to ask might be a dedicated photography forum, such as DPReview, or have a look at some of the monitor review sites like tftcentral.co.uk (who have a review of that monitor) ..?  I know a lot of people over at DPReview recommend Dell UltraSharp and NEC or HP professional monitors (I got my parents a Dell P2414 for their new PC, which is similar to the U2414, and it really is very good, albeit a little lightly constructed - I assume the more expensive Dells are at least as good) - I have no idea how that works out price-wise, over in the US, but the U2713HM is about £10 cheaper than the Asus - don't know if it might be worth a look..?

No idea if that's any help or not..?

P.S. I assume you have a hardware calibrator, such as an i1?  I use an old Phillips 20" 8-bit IPS monitor for photo editing, which was blue and burned-out out of the box ... one go with the i1 and it looks perfect (has a similar "feel" to it to my old Trinitron CRT).

Current PC: Intel Core i7 4790K, Noctua NH-U12S, Asus Z97-Pro, 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz RAM, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, Crucial MX100 512GB, Western Digital Black 2TB, EVGA GTX 970 SC (blower), Pioneer BDR-209DBK, Fractal Design Define R4 + Noctua NF-A14 FLX fans, Corsair AX760 PSU, Dell U2713HM

You might want to check out this site for reviews, they go into extreme detail.

Tomshardware has good monitor reviews too, surprisingly.

    Thanks guys.
The Asus is cheaper then the Dell right now at $470 on Amazon. What Im really curious is how the Korean models fair against the Asus since they run in the 300-400 dollar range.
    I do have hardware calibration.

If you have hardware calibration then the Korean monitors should be a fine choice.  The Overlord Tempest X270 monitors use the same AH-IPS panel as the pricey Dell UltraSharps, but cost a fraction of the price.

Thanks boredgunner. I looked into the overlords and they were all sold out.

Can anyone recommend a Korean monitor that has a no dead pixel policy?
