Thanks for the links! Yes I realize its really pushing it for this price range. But surely these desktops would be much nicer. Edit: Hmm after some guick research, I found the 6670 is better and I did some research on the i3 2100 vs FX 4100 and there almost the same but more favored the i3 2100. Figures out of those 2 deals, according to some google searching, have the best parts switched around lol Edit: I might be interested in the newegg machines, maybe the CyberPowerPC because the case looks much better for cooling.

I wonder about the i3 vs the FX 4100... don't know about the comparison but the 4100 is in the computer i built for my friend and is working nicely, look at micro center if you are ok with doing a little work yourself cause they have some good deals on price for a mobo/4100 combo. (i know the objective is a prebuilt one just thought i would toss it out for you)

Thanks for help, I was curious, for the CyberPowerPC what games and resolution do you think its capable of handling? Just looking for an estimation I understand no garuntees.

I saw a used i7 920 complete system on craigslist for $400. try looking at used gear and get way more than what you'd get new or prebuilt or both.

I'd go with this one... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229305, it's got a quad core with an unlocked multiplier and the rest of the specs are good except for the discrete GPU. This would still be better than his laptop and he should save up some cash for a decent mid range card like a GTS 450/550.

Well, i'd say for that price and for his needs that Cyberpower computer looks perfect! Should last him for a while I presume.

Why a pre built?
+1 I know its time consuming but building it would yield a better PC for the money. Also if you really have time look on CL for memory, GPUs, CPUs, boards, etc. Some people ask stupid prices but some just want to get a little money to buy something better. I've sold RAM for super cheap and have a AMD3 board and CPU I'm about to move.

Thank you all for the helpful posts! But the plan now is just getting them a really nice laptop because it would better suit their lifestyle. Currently I got my eyes set on an Alienware laptop with these specs: PROCESSOR 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.3GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0) OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit MEMORY 6GB DDR3 at 1600MHz (2DIMMS) HARD DRIVE 500GB 7,200 RPM SATA 3Gb/s VIDEO CARD 2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M LCD PANEL 17.3-inch WideHD+ 1600 x 900 60Hz WLED WIRELESS CARD Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 With Bluetooth 4.0 INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW) The price is $1499.
