Here are some ideas I put together (not all mine) for this year's CC:

These we still need help on:

  • add list of passkey owners to first post of CC sticky
  • recruit respected contributors from other parts of the EVGA forum to post CC recruiting announcements in those areas

These are already complete or in progress:
  • talk to EVGA web guru Shane about:
    • announcing modifications to the EVGA bucks promo to accommodate CC (see his later post in this thread)
    • adding banners to the forum or even the main site recruiting for the CC (can't be done because it's not an official EVGA-sponsored event)
  • discuss within this section the possibility of an internal contest during CC (maybe the contest that tank already suggested http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=296028
  • add a signup sheet (probably google doc like the OCN signup sheet so you don't have to wade through a giant thread) so we know who's in and who might need a friendly PM
    •  - done by zerran
    • http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=312128
  • changing avatars/sigs to include CC (already suggested by rcranfield and others)

Other ideas?

Those sound like good ideas except I really don't think they're going to change the EVGA bucks promotion.

I'm not really sure what post from tank you're talking about, can you please post the link?

Shane had mentioned earlier (though I can't find it now) that they would make accommodations for the CC in their May calculations.  It would be good to have the specifics out before the contest for anyone that's reluctant to switch over.

I added a link to Tank's thread in the original post.

Nice badge, don't mind if I do!   if I can figure it out

a sign up sheet is by far the best idea for sure.

one other thing is last year evga and it's forum members donated some nice gifts for random giveaway this would be nice to have again this year also.

I am thinking of adding an option to FAH GPU Tracker V2 that would allow users to simply check a box to automatically fold for EVGA during the CC. The result would look something like this:

    FAH GPU Tracker V2 thread

If this option is enabled then the Tracker will automatically switch all the clients over to the EVGA CC name when a web config file says to do so. I could host this file, but I think it would be better for it to be on the EVGA CC site here: http://evga.tachedout.com/

Does this seem like something that would be worth the effort to get working?

I have already started testing the bigadv on one of my dual quad xeon rigs to make sure it will work fine and see how long it takes to do a WU.  this way my rigs can drop the BigAdv WU's on day 1 and then do a3's for the rest of the contest.

We need to make sure all the bigadv folders have the WU finish on day 1 and switch over to a3 (unless they have some crazy setup that can punch out bigadv fast)

I think that's a great idea. Maybe do a drawing for the lower end folders that have trouble getting the 10 bucks every month like you originally planned, but now make a rule that you have to participate in CC (honor system). Those people should easily be able to participate and get their 10 evga bucks. Even if they don't get their bucks for May, they still got a gpu for free and will be able to get those bucks the next month for sure. That might attract more people. I'm willing to bet some lower end folders that weren't planning on participating would gladly give up their chance for 10 evga bucks for a chance to win a gpu. Just a thought.

Whatever the case may be, those gpu's should be running for CC. I also agree with pgmoney. We should have a random giveaway for people who participate. I started a thread for prizes. http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=312940

    Here's what I'll do:

If you made a milestone in March or April and you miss it in May by a reasonable amount (sorry for the gray area, but 0 points folded under your name for the month won't get for example) then I will award the EVGA bucks to you that you missed.

If you have not participated until May, I will have to take that on case by case basis.

Unfortunately there is no other way for me to do it since everyone's points/situation is unique.  I am willing to add to my workload for the team, though.  If you have specific questions on this regarding your situation, feel free to post here so the answers are out there.

Shane needs to tell the guys testing cards that the only acceptable testing during the month of May is to run F@H on them 24/7 under the name EVGApes.

Seriously though, Shane, are you going to join in on the fun? I don't see you signed up in the other thread.

Updated first post with results so far - thanks to everyone that has taken on CC projects.

One thing that's left is for people to start recruiting in other sections of the EVGA forums.  I don't know what the mods would allow, but I think if some well-respected contributors to the other areas post in those areas it would probably be okay.

I have completed the implementation of the CC feature in FAH GPU Tracker V2. All I need to know before I release it is the URL that the config file will be hosted on.

The config file is an XML file containing the following:

    <config>
        <running>false</running>
        <name>EVGApes</name>
        <team>111065</team>
        <passkey></passkey>
        <eocid>449361</eocid>
    </config>

Obviously the passkey will need to be added to this for the A3 bonus points. The <running> option specifies if the Tracker should be running under the CC name/team/passkey at the time. Setting this value to "true" will cause the Tracker to fold under the CC info if the user has enabled the option. If the value is set to "false" then the Tracker will run under the normal name/team/passkey.

I can release the new version of the Tracker as soon as I know the final URL of the config file.

EDIT: I also built in significant error-tolerance in case the config file is unavailable. If the config file can't be read then it will use the previous value instead. This way if the config file is unavailable in the middle of the CC it will not cause a problem.

Agreed! We need to recruit more people. Are we allowed to mass mail people on the forum about it? I don't want to get in trouble for spamming. If we can, is there an easy way to do that? Or do you have to send a PM to each person? Either way, I'm on board. Just tell me what I need to do and I'll get busy.

I'm not trying to crap, but is this a good idea? We have been keeping the passkey to a select group of dedicated EVGA team members, but this would seem to allow anyone to use it if they use your Tracker. Is there any way to have it that the user would still need to have the passkey locally on their system rather than it being hosted on a public site?

last year we waited until after CC started to do this. I already spoke to zerran and we are going to break the list down and mass pm everyone this comming monday so it's not to late and not to soon.

Their is alot of evga folders who do not fold on a regular basis and the more help we get contacting (pm'ing) evga folders the better.
I already went thru it last year. I pm'ed about 1000+ people last year in about 2 hours or less with the help of 4 others.

so having 5-6 people join in and help would be great. I'll be setting up a way to communicate between everyone involved but we basically go thru the list of folders from all time at evga and pm everyone of them to remind them it is time for CC and that we need every point we can get.small folder or large it doesn't matter how many points someone puts up cause every point counts even if they are folding on just a laptop or a 8500gt.

I'll be glad to get a few more volunteers to help me, zerran, and Abe. The more help the better and faster things will go.

I'll PM you later on tonight when I get a chance Abe thanks for helping out any you can. I'll fill you in via PM.

I may not be a super 300k ppd folder but i will do whatever it takes to help our team win the CC this year!

The first rule of CC is that every folder counts and it is better to have 100 10k ppd folders then 1 100kppd folder, although we do encourage both to take part with all you got.

For those of you who was not in the CC last year I can tell you it is alot of fun and a very tuff competition.

I think based on last years teams and the different wu's with big adv folding etc.. this year our team needs to put up 20 million points in 4 days for the starting goal of the team, that's 5 million points per day under ONE name! right now our team averages 8 million points a day if we can get everyone organized in time we can do this no problem.

we found out last year the team that came out on top was the one who planned ahead and was the best organized before the CC even started.

There is alot of very smart people on these forums and I know we can out plan the other teams and out fold the other teams if we put our minds to it.

    EVGA FTW!

I AM GOING TO GET STARTED ON THIS NOW:

I'll take 1-1000 on the EOC evga team users list, and report back later. so if any of you guys get a pm it is just because i am pm'ing everyone who has folded at evga alll time. if your already folding just disregard and don't forget to change your user name to EVGApes by or before my 5th 12pm pst.

ok as soon as i can find out why I can not pm the people i ant and the stupid forums inserts another name from contacts list instead of the name i typed, lol forums failure

I'll grab users 3000-4000. Not sure what you two discussed last night as far as who gets what, so I figured I would be safe with the 3000-4000 range. I'll let you know when I'm done and going to claim another batch
