Hi,

I just received my second Kingpin 980 Ti I bought off of Ebay to SLI it with my other Kingpin. Digging into what rom version is on the Card I noticed that the version of ROM is 84.00.36.01.90 vs 84.00.36.00.90 that is on my card. Digging further I find out thats the OC overclock Rom version which I'm not sure in what way thats different than the stock rom?

Second problem guy who sold it to me said he never overclocked it. So by virtue of the fact he was running the OC rom I guess he was??

Thanks

I don't know why you think that ine BIOS is official normal BIOS and one BIOS is unofficial overclock BIOS. They are both official BIOS versions and both have the same clock frequencies.

I believe that one is the master BIOS and one is the slave BIOS. Turn off, flip the BIOS switch on your card, and boot up with the other BIOS and see the version difference. Refer to your video card manual available on this website in the support section.

One has a higher power target capability and a higher slider adjustment limit but behaves quite the same if not manually overclocking the card.

Looks like the OC bios has the memory running slightly faster according to GPU-Z. I need to research this more. Wonder though is the OC bios safe for use on the stock heatsink?

    Thanks

Any stock BIOS is safe for the GPU as they will down clock if the temps get too crazy
