Howdy Everyone,

Now, for the longest time I refused to play this game.  I thought it was a stupid idea and told myself I would never play it.  Well, after reading a lot online I decided to take a chance and pre-order Portal 2 on steam which gave me a free copy of Portal.  Well, I played the first Portal and LOVED it.  But, that's not the point, here is what I thought of Portal 2.

The gameplay is great.  I'm not a huge fan of puzzle games but I really enjoyed the thinking I had to do to make puzzles work.  I was also impressed with the other characters within the game.  Their personalities added a lot to the game.  Graphics were also very good.  Now, don't get me wrong, it's not Metro 2033, but the graphics do play on each other very well.  The new puzzle additions also added a lot of thinking.  I can't begin to tell you how many times I just sat there with as much of the area viewable as possible and just brainstormed.  The satisfaction of FINALLY figuring it out was thrilling to say the least.

I never really understood why the Portal series was so lauded until I took the plunge.  The "don't knock it till you try it" could not be more true in this case.

Agreed. I was able to score a couple of free copies so I'm playing through the co-op with a friend. I'm really surprised at how much we are enjoying it.., it's a nice departure from the FPS that we normally play. It seems like this year is an extraordinary year for gaming.  I cannot remember a year where I had more games to play than I had time to play them. That spans a lot of years 'cause i'm OOOLD.

I'm kind of jealous, you got to experience Portal for the first time... Yeah its pretty great. I keep pushing it on people, but very few do I get to stick with it and experience its genius.

If you liked Portal, you should maybe check out 'Braid' its not as Valve polished (good), but it has the same experience to where you feel smart when you solve the puzzles, and overall its pretty good.
