Needed new card so shelled out for 980 Ti, and now I am reading about 4K display capability. Can I achieve this with a Samsung UD590, and my new, single 980, and aged System spec's below. Thanks for assistance on this.

Sure. I'm running 4K now with an even slightly more aged system than yours. Of course, you're not going to be able to run every game at max settings at 4K but a lot of fairly recent titles will run well using a mix of ultra and high settings.

You would get more out of your video card with a really nice 120hz/144hz - 1440p monitor imo. A 4k 60 hz monitor isn't worth it right now. I have had one since March 2015, and it's very pretty, but you are going to be playing most games at an average of 40 - 50 fps. Looking back, I wish I had gotten a 1440p. Right now I am waiting for the ASUS 34 inch curved(21:9 Ultrawide) 1440p ROG Swift(PG348Q), which is hopefully coming out in December 2015. There is an Acer one that is currently out on the market, however it's sold out at every outlet at the moment. I am also not a fan of Acer's quality control.

It depends upon his usage. He's not going to be hitting 120-144hz with a single 980ti unless he sticks to 1080p or reduces the settings. Whether higher refresh or higher resolution, it requires some compromises especially on newer titles.

At 4K 60 hertz you can play almost all games except for a couple of games at 4K game settings with all of the eye candy turned on.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

What type of games do you play?  Also, what monitor are you coming from?  Some game types really don't need the higher refresh and other will benefit from it, also if you typically used say an older gen Dell UltraSharp IPS monitor I think the 4k might be a real sweet spot for you, however if you have been running a 1ms 144hz 1080p and are an avid twitch shooter fan, you may well find the current 4k's lacking.

From my experience from the XB280HK and a 980 ti, you will have to turn a few settings down for new games or a few old demanding ones

Example- (BF4, no AA and Post processing medium) (Crysis 3 No AA, shadows turned down and water) (Titan Fall Textures and lighting turned down a bit) (star Wars Battlefront 3, Lighting and some post processing)

Games that can be maxed out
Example- (Mortal Kombat and X) (splinter Cell with No AA) andddd all the older batman games, small list I know but I only remember so much from all my games

Skyrim, Dying light, and now Fallout 4 are the games I play. Never online stuff anyone, either. Well. I have a Samsung U28E590D 28" on back order. I thought that would be a decent move up from my HP 27xi 27". I could still cancel that back order. Humm.

What are your thoughts about retaining the 770 for PhyX in this system? I have the PSU to support them. May not enhance 4K, but drag it down, right?
