That's kind of scary, as an avid 7 user which will never touch 8. I recently dived in to the latest Insider Preview. It looks and runs okay as an OS. However, i have ran into some bad issues with some games running, and even the start menu bugging out with overlays and things of that sort, but of course reboots tend to fix this. 10 is promising, but reading a July date doesn't put ease to my testing experience.

I think that with the Insider Feedback that they've actually been listening to, the RTM version will be close to an SP1 when it comes out.

I've been running it for months now and staying up on the Fast track to check things out. Sometimes things get hosed from upgrading from one edition to another, but usually an iso fresh install solves those issues. I've also ran into problems that were solved by reinstalling graphics drivers after an update as well.

As for being a finished OS, they're getting there, but there are definitely still some things that need addressing for sure. I do have some serious issues with gaming on Windows 10, particularly with the latest drivers and alt tabbing out of any game. I think it has something to do with how they're handling the pooling of resources with the new dx12 and wddm 2.0 stuff. I'm sure that'll be ironed out in time, but it is very very annoying.

Outside of gaming, the OS feels rock solid to me for the most part. Also, the newest icons they've placed in 10130 are great. They continue to remove and add various UI elements, which confuses me, but I'm sure they have their reasons. It's just odd that it's there, then it's not, then oh look, it's back again! I can't wait for a retail release honestly. I skipped over Windows 8, but I absolutely love 10. So much so that I just don't want to go back to 7 now, even with the issues I experience in 10.

Yeah, WoW has gone completely poopy as of the last set of drivers and this release. Crashes to a black screen when running full-screen, random flickering when windowed. My 3Dmark score went up a little, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Then there's the sound issues. On one PC, the Realtek audio dies until you un/re-install the drivers, on the other, same thing happens but it's a Soundblaster X-Fi. The default Windows drivers aren't working for some reason, and the ones from Creative for 8.1 don't work either, so I have to get a user-hacked set of drivers.

I think they'll be ready before next month, but I'm sure there will still be bugs at launch.

    JULY 29th  -  http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/microsoft-says-windows-10-available-on-july-29/ar-BBktlbz?ocid=ansnewsreu11
    There's the official date.

That's an unofficial date. That is a news article on the MSN news website, not the Microsoft website.
The official date has yet to be announced from Microsoft.
Edit: My bad. Thought it was still the AMD leak.

Looks like July 29th is the date! I'm sure Microsoft will have some sort of expensive launch campaign party.

I wonder how the "free" upgrade from 7 to 10 will work? I just noticed the icon in the right side of my task bar and it said free upgrade. So I wonder if my 7 key now becomes my 10 key? Or if the 7 key is registered by them so you can't use it again? Does your version of 7 side step to 10? So 7 pro is 10 pro? Or do all 7 users that upgrade just get 10 home basic? Lots of questions that I haven't found answers to. If anyone knows where to find the answers please let me know. I haven't found them yet.

I was hoping for a new key for each copy of 10 and a download .iso.  This way, it is really free!  The 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade is a mere install of 8.0 again and then the upgrade to 8.1.  Takes a lot of time to do this...

I'm sure their will be some kind of key, and a Download ISO for Windows 10.

you may have to raid their Hidden FTP server. Will take some poking around but you'll be able to find it. I've had to do that in a few times just to make my Windows 7 pro key of use a long time ago when I had a laptop equipped with Vista.
