Just signed up. Clearly I'm a noob, and don't what actual project is associated with this. Is it the "pogs" project in boinc? Is it CPU or GPU or both?

CPU projects, Yes it's the "pogs" project GPU projects (from what I see) are mostly offered in Prime Grid....although I am a newb too and haven't seen any others.......well, in the challenges I have been involved in anyway. I am soooooooo looking forward to the challenges that use GPUs. It is amazing to run 2 WUs @ a time 100% gpu usage and maybe 2-3* warmer when running compared to Folding.

The other GPU project is GPUGRID, they do not always have work. But it does look like they fixed the download issue. Used to be slow and would stop right before it was done. At least it was last time I did a few WUs a week ago.

I know most of us are not fond of bunkering, though we can't stop anyone on these challenges that aren't sponsored by the project itself. Is it okay to get a "running start", i.e. start running the project ahead of time without any special bunkering? That would make it easier for folks that otherwise might need to start up late at night. I'd just as soon start early to make sure everything is running correctly.

Our Start time was a little off (It should have been set for Midnight tonight, my fault on this one) and I am starting up tonight and every Sunday night for each POTM myself. 2017-01-15 23:00:00 UTC is what it should have been. I would not really call it bunkering as we have our own projects and task running that need to complete and so on before each start. For the most part our run times are from Sunday Night to Friday Night or Monday Moring to Friday Night 5 Days.

I do not have a problem with it. I don't think there is anyway to stop "bunkering". Can ask people not to bunker, then call them out if they do. Thinking with pos, only WUs that are validated in the time of the challenge count right? We haven't done a POGs challenge in a while. I can change the OP to say please no bunkering, if you are/have been running POGS is ok. Thoughts on that?

I do not think any completed tasks will be counted before Start Time 2017-01-16 23:00:00 UTC anyway. This is our first one so we will have to see. Finding a Start Time for all in the World is hard to do as well.

I'm running 6 threads on a rig that's folding, seemed silly to not to. So in that respect I'm bunkering. The rest will be fired up near starting time.

I think as long as you do not have a massive data dump it is just fine. This is the project I picked and am pleased there are work units. So go ahead and light up your rigs and get a head start. 5:00pm est is the official start time but I am going to stop my other projects like ATLAS, DENIS, SR-BASE, TN-GRID, AND NUMBERFIELDS and start POGS. Yeah it's like that ( bragging) Bcavnaugh - any thoughts as you oversee this? robby

I started it up this morning on my 3 rigs at 50% sharing with WCG which has "no new tasks" set, so by the real start time they should be full on POGS. On the one E5-2660 system that has some completed and validated, I see there seem to be two sizes of tasks, small ones at ~5900 seconds and the majority being large ones at ~11500 seconds. These have a quorum of 2, so work completed but not validated by another user by the end of the challenge probably won't count in your points.

Allowed new tasks on pogs and "no new tasks" on other projects before I went to bed, so overnight the pogs tasks would start to trickle in. Just about full steam ahead on pogs now.

Also need to mention that you are also waiting for your completed WUs to be validated...........some of the WUs I have finished are going to rigs that take 2.25 days to complete.

Sure, but free-dc shows stats for a number of people today, so there should be at least one person with more than zero points. I'm afraid those numbers are only going to be updated every 12 hours like most projects.

Today I do show 976 on Free-DC and they are from tasks completed 3 days ago. Your Computers are hidden so I cannot look at your Tasks.
