Jacob and other admins:
If I want to go ahead and get 2mm pads from amazon and within specs ; install the pads following the tutorial that is on the EVGA site.
Would that  VOID my warranty ? for not specifically using the ones that EVGA submitted that are awaiting for shipment?

I just want to know to see if I can proceed or just wait and apply the ones from the EVGA site to be shipped to me as per they are still on " Awaiting Shipment " status

Thanks

I'm not either of the addressed so take my words with grains of salt.  However, I've read the related threads in their entirety and I believe you are allowed to go ahead with the mod and not void the warranty.  That is expressed somewhere in that mega thread at the top of the page.
The understanding is that you take care and not throw the card against the wall sort of thing -- wilful damage.  I think the main thing is watch the fan and led connectors; also making sure you've discharged any static by touching a grounded item first, like the computer case or something like that.  Other than that, you're good.

I have 20 years with IT and hardware experience and other than using a pad too thin that it wont make contact with the cooler / plate and make an " oven " of the chip that's under it I don't see any issues. Other than the " specific thermal conductivity " for that particular pad don't see how that would void my warranty if I cut and apply the pads with the skill of a surgeon. But another community member said that I could  " void my warranty " if I do so. Something that I consider REALLY extreme but I would love a moderator or Jacob's confirmation.
Thanks for the replies anyways they are much appreciated

PS: English is my 3rd language after Spanish and German so go EZ with my grammar boyz

No problem.  I think logically it follows that if you know the specifics of the pads and have the ability then you're not going to void the warranty.  They're letting users do the mod themselves, right?  They're sending different thermal pastes depending on what they can get, right?  If you can source better supplies (which means most often, "more expensive") -- I've got Kryonaut and Pad 8 from thermal Grizzly and fully expect my warranty to be still in place after I use them.

However, I understand wanting to be sure.  I am that way myself.
