I have been considering buying a GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 for around 520 euro (566$). However there has been much talk of the arrival of the 980 ti.

Are the new tis lightly to be in a simmler price range on launch? or will the price of existing 980s drop significantly making it worth a wait?

No one knows the answer to that, but we may know soon.  All I can say for certain is that if I had waited this long, I would wait a few more weeks to see what happens.  Quite possible that nothing really changes, but you can be sure that the price of the 980 won't go up.

980 Ti should be out next month. Price will probably be around 600-700 USD.

Its out next month, but I assume is another few weeks before it becomes generally available to purchase?

Depends on which rumors you want to believe in.  Some say they are ready for distribution immediately following the announcement (whenever that should happen).  Until NVIDIA comes out with deliberate announcements, no one knows for certain.  It is all pure conjecture.

Seems like it'd be wise to wait ^^

I'm in the same boat. I'd really like a newer card & have been sweating out the ti rumors since early April. Might as well wait a few more weeks & see what happens. I kinda burned myself when I got my 780's and then 2 weeks later the 780ti dropped.

I have the GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 and it's a beast of a card!  I absolutely love it.  Had I known that Nvidia was going to release the 980 ti so soon I honestly might have waited.  That said you could always step up down the road.  You really would be hard pressed to find any games right now that the SC can't handle.

Wait for 980 Ti comes out... should be out next week!  You may be able to find a used 980 for good price.

I wouldn't worry about what's coming out really... The GTX 980Ti is going to be in a different price bracket and the GTX 980 isn't going to not drop down in price for a while. If that's what you can afford, I'd just get it now unless you really plan on 4K gaming in your near future.

If you want Nvdia's best for 500 bucks, like it used to be, you have to wait until the next round of GPU's. You have to resist the Ti and Titan... Which, neither are really that much of a gaming jump, unless you want more Vram for higher resolutions.

Will it be a big difference in performance from 980 to 980Ti?

So far i`m not convinced GTX 980 Ti will be worth it.

I bought 2x reference 980 cards and currently i`m running them at 1570mhz/8ghz.
So far there is nothing to suggest the Ti variants will perform beyond this or even at this level.

I game at 2560x1440 and the RAM on the 980 reference cards is fine.

Ti will have higher bandwith, but we still don`t know about the ROP and we hav no idea how well it OCs

Performance could be as little as 10% above reference or as high as 20%, but given 16nm architecture will arrive in no more than 12 months- you`re looking at a VERY SHORT TERM upgrade. The step from 28 to 16nm will be a true generational leap and everyone should upgrade at that time.

I`m more interested in AMD fiji, but will wait until the benchmarks are out. For a 12 month upgrade, I want a minimum of 50% performance bump...

the most 980Ti can do is %10 more performance for at least $100 higher price over the 980.
so it can only be worth waiting to get a better deal on the 980.
if you already have a good deal just buy the 980 and that's it, imo.
