You may be referring to the "breath" effect. You can use the LED visualizer built into Precision X to adjust the LED lighting on the GTX 980TI Kingpin.

Thanks for replying, but I have it set to full on. The lights literally turn off for like half second then turn back on. There is not gradual change just off then on in a very annoying way for my window case. Also this at random times too.

You had mentioned "Cards", if you have 2 cards does this occur with both cards? I may suggest testing with only 1 card in the system and maybe reinstalling the drivers using DDU to remove everything first.

If you are experiencing a red LED turning on on the back of the card, and all of the LED's flashing, you may find the answer in the link below.

If it is just the RGB feature on the side of the card flashing, then I am not sure what causes that, but drivers don't fix it.  I would be curious if a firmware update would help that, like they have done for the fault listed above.

Yes just the logo on the side where the power cables go in. I am sure if I turned all the lights on they would blink too.

Please try the fix below that was posted if your having RANDOM issues with LEDs on the card. It has no effect on any other part of the card, just minor fw issue with lights only. Most likely that's your issue if the same behavior on all LEDs

Thanks Kingpin, but it's blinking on temps at 28C. It does not matter what the temps are.

I'd still give it a shot, any random weirdness with LED's would indicate this fix..ez to do anyways.

The solution posted definitely will fix this problem. Had it myself no matter if the card was under load or just in idle. After flashing the firmware it was gone!

    Guys,

I know I am late to the game but the forum link posted above is no longer valid? I am wondering what the fix is? Both of my 980 ti Kingpins have the same issue?

I also have 76% ASIC and can't overclock hardly at all.......... my cards idle at 43-46c and my cpu temps are 29c-37c.

    Please help!

Go to the Kingpin website, and head into their forums. They have a firmware update and a fantastic guide on how to get the firmware update applied to the card properly.

As for the temps, you said "both". You seem to have SLI, so how close are they to each other. Are you fans constantly running?

As for overclocking, Maxwell doesn't care about voltage. You can try the classified voltage tool, other bios' and everything, but usually, they are going to be great at stock, but not push much further. I know someone is going to say "but the Kingpin should push to 1550 easy".. No. Some can do that, many can not. They are binned only for asic quality not for overclocking. They are susceptible to the same silicon limits as all other gpu's.

Follow the guide in the Kingpin forums and see if they can help you overclock. Also, try precision, then fully remove it. Try MSI Afterburner, and remove it, then try precision 4.2.1 and try that. Use multiple programs until you find the one that gives you the best results.
