so evga releasing new ver with the help of unwinder ? licensing etc


According to Jacob in one of their previous podcasts, they won't be using Riva Tuner with PrecX15.  There will be 32 & 64bit OSD support.

Also mentioned that it'll have 64 bit support, given that that license for exclusive 64 bit support from rivatuner/unwinder to MSI doesn't run out for a while longer, and that it's possible we could get our hands on this sometime this month, I'd guess they would have some other version of OSD that their using (kind of like what they did with the voltage tuning a good while back if I recall correctly)


I would like them to make some changes for how it shows in the screen for Logitech G19, I bought that keyboard but Always wondered why to have a lite colour screen when nothing uses it

Now that is something I would like to see as well, some customizations possible for how the info is displayed in the G19 screen. Like how AIDA64 does it for instance, lots of customization options.

Unwinder I will donate to  fund a lawsuit against EVGA if they used a single line of code that resembles any of the previous software.

If EVGA never had any kind of license to use the UI then I find this move by them despicable. I'm fine with you developing your own software but to clone the entire user interface is shocking to me. I'm a software developer myself and I know intimately how much time and thought goes into developing software like this. Just all the time spent thinking about the way things should be laid out to be concise, functional and not overwhelming is immense.
 
I would very much like an EVGA representative to explain what agreements (if any) you have to make the software look identical to the previous version developed by Unwinder.

I don't see how that comment from Unwinder eases the conclusions from this. According to Unwinder @ Guru3D he was not aware that you guys were going to clone his software or at-least he didn't authorise you to do so? Is this true or false.

I wonder, as Unwinder is still supporting the older precision... does that mean EVGA still has license to use Rivatuner and the UI, but simply is only using the UI part of the license for Precision 15, instead of both the code and UI?
 
This is assuming it's even possible to license a UI, as the article mentioned here that one cannot copyright a UI, so licensing something that isn't legally able to be owned might not be possible from a legal standpoint.

Did the download by Steam, but went back to the older V4. It's not only because of the missing Logitech LCD option, also all time starting Steam at every boot only for Precision... Maybe if the standalone download will work without Steam, than i will give it a chance and hope, that some day it also supports Logitech keyboard LCD :-)

The Standalone also doesn't work with the Logitech LCD... sheesh
