PC Gamer reports that Hong Kong's Chi-Kui Lam recently managed to get his Intel Core i7 6700K processor running at a record breaking 7025.66MHz. As is usual with overclocks of modern multi-core processors, only a single core was tasked (core voltage 4.032V) and lashings of liquid nitrogen was applied to keep the processor cool enough.

Not bad, lmao.

That's really cool. Honestly, I don't ever see the industry having it that sort of average clocks for the modern day user. We just don't have the means to do it without applying THAT, liquid nitrogen. We need another way to produce the processors in another form, with another material, in order to get clocks higher than what they already are at standard rates.

we've been stuck at 4ghz since 2003, thats why they do cores and optimizations now instead of clock speed. You can bet if intel had been able to get a Pentium 4 to 10ghz they'd have done it. A 10ghz Pentium D would still have whooped a Core I3 from 2010 though it would use about 3000x more power lol

Nvidia GeForce GT630 graphics card, Antec 1300W PSU and the system ran Microsoft Windows XP

What do they do with 1 core and XP ?

How is it proven to be stable -- is there a benchmark standard for subzero OC records?

Boring! Let me know when they can do this on all cores/threads and benchmark it

There are benchmarks that run better on XP and single core.
