This is how to install GTX 480 backplates on a 560ti 448 Classified:
READ THIS FIRST BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER
First you will need to remove the shroud from the PCB. The screws are phillips head and you may need to find a small phillips screw driver to fit and even if you find a small one it may not fit right. Make sure it fits right and you take your time removing from the shroud off the PCB. Add a lttle pressure on top of the screw driver without trying to brake anything (meaning don't over do it). If the screw driver slips from the phillips slots, STOP and try to find a screw driver that fits and that will stay in the phillips slots with out slipping out. If it keeps slipping it will eventually strip the screw out and good luck getting it out with out sending it to me to fix.
____________________________________________________________________________________
OK, first remove the screws marked with the red circles. There should be five of them., 3 on top and 2 on the front plate which will feel like there going to brake while remove because there no support on the back side so if you follow the beginning instructions you should not have any problems removing.

Only three screws used to install backplate. The green circles are the screw slots need to install backplate.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

You will need to disconnect these wires from the shroud when removing to make it a little more easier to install. The blue circle is for the fan connector and the red is the light on the side of card. It's hard to get mixed up so don't bother marking.

____________________________________________________________________________________

These are the screws needed for the install. The red screws are stock size that come out of the shroud. You will not need these screws. The blue circled 3-48x1/2in. screws are the screws you can use, but the problem is the 1/2in. is a little long and you will have to install a washer on top of the backplate and the screw will sit above the plate or you can just make the plate sit really high off the PCB, maybe over a 1/4in. or so by adding a lot of washers. I used different type that i will show in the next picture, but these will work. The yellow circle is the #3 flat washers needed, but once again i used different type of washer. The purple circle is the 3-48 hex nut, you will only need 1 of these per card because of missing threads which i wil point out later. The
green circle is the type of screws needed and not the other type. The black circle is what you may want to look for when you go to your local ACE Hardware Store to find them. Good luck with that!!!

_________________________________________________________________________________

This is the size i found (3-48 3/8in.) and will be using, they are black and use a Allen/Hex wrench to tighten the screw. They fit really well and also fit down into the slots in the backplate for a very clean look...

__________________________________________________________________________

These are the 5/32in. I.D. and 3/8in. O.D. washers I used, they are Neoprene or rubber

___________________________________________________________________________________

These are the screws, washers and nuts that can be used. I used the black 3/8in. 3 allen screws (red circle) and 9 rubber washers (blue circle) & 1 nut per card (green circle).

______________________________________________________________________________________

This will be the first hole you will use to start mounting the plate. It's next to the front of the PCI Express bus insert off the PCB. There is no thread catch in this hole and that's why you need the nut

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Kinda hard to tell but the backplate is upside down, screw inserted and 3 rubber washers into the hole of the backplate that matches the hole in the PCB pointed out above.

___________________________________________________________________________________

OK a little tricky but not to hard, flip the card up side down on to the backplate and insert screw in the hole pointed out above. keep the card upside down because this is where you need to add the nut to the screw. I used a small pair of needlepoint pliers to hold nut in place while I took the #2 allen/hex wrench to tighten the nut to the screw. You may need to ask for a little help at this point but first make sure they are grounded before they just walk up and start grabbing on that graphic card. After you get the screw tightened slid the backplate over a little to install shroud back to PCB as shown in the next picture.

____________________________________________________________________________________

This is the first screw to install back into the board and is just the stock screw that came out. After inserted back into the shroud and tightened, slide backplate back over so that it is lined back up with the threaded slot on the back of the card. Then look for the 2 holes at the other end of backplate as marked with the green circles in picture 1.

___________________________________________________________________________________

These are the holes the screws will thread into on back of plate and are threaded, no nuts will be used just the 3/8in. screws and 3 rubber washers. OK now slide the 3 rubber washers in between the PCB and the backplate so the screw will slide throw to hit the threads on the PCB and be able to tighten.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Tighten so that that screw fills a little snug and in my case the rubber washers a little smashed, DON"T OVER TIGHTEN, because once again you'll be calling me to fix it... DON'T OVER TIGHTEN! Next repeat other side, install your frontplate stock screws back to the front of card. Check everything twice, maybe three times until your positive you got it all back together. NOW insert your card and game on!!!!

__________________________________________________________________________________

This is the spacing I ended up with after using the 3 rubber washers

________________________________________________________________________________

OK If any one wants me to add anything or you just plan don't understand, just let me know and i'll see if i can help! Good Luck with everything and take your time. It's a hobby have fun with it!!! Oh if you brake anything, its your fault, not mine, but if possible I'ill fix it at a cost.
But seriously be careful it's easy to strip those screws. Good luck and I hope this helps you EVGA fans boys out.

Awesome thread. Thank you for taking the time to photograph and write all that down!

Was it necessary to use three washers between the backplate and the pcb? It looks like you could have used less, but there would have been threads hanging out past the nuts in an unsightly way possibly.

Thanks! As thick as the rubber washers are, you probably could just 2 washer if wanted. It would start getting close tho, but i'm sure it could work. The washer are a little less the 3/32in. give or take.

Thanks Kody! I'm going to tomorrow to talk to my buddy about the stickers. I may also go talk to Danny Taylor who paints custom stuff and stripes cars for a living here in the Ville. His dad was Bob Taylor the famous stripier from back in the day.  Anyway I may just get him to paint them on depending on cost. I'm probably going ahead with the stickers no matter what tho...I'll keep you posted.

Do the 560ti backplates work as well? Why not just use those?

The 560 Ti 448 uses the 480 pcb hence the reason he used the 480 backplate.

    Nice work

One question: Does the backplate pad make contact with the PCB under the GPU?

The way and height that I have the backplates mounted, is not touching anything at all (pad or bumpers). I could get them closer but I like the look so I just left it as is. Hope this helps!!!

They have been out of these backplates for ever... I am going to make my own! What would really help is a spec sheet with actual measurements... but this thread has been very helpful. Off to buy some screws washers and one nut. Thanks.
