Man, this made me so sad to hear. Im so sorry chrome. I def know how you feel cause my dog and my moms dog are both on there way out. No matter how many animals you've owned it never gets any easier. What kills you is after they go and your whole existence changes...... you don't know how to live without them since your whole day revolves around them, everyday. I always say I cant do that again because of the heartbreak ,but end up adopting some poor rescue or saving some abused dog from someone and doing it all over again. I wish you and your family the best and hope you can get past this gracefully man. If you need to blow off some steam just PM me if you need to. Im always open!!! :) \m/

I'm sorry for your loss. I remember seeing pics of your dog back in 2009, you were always posting about her. She's been through the rough and the good times with you, I remember you telling us how she was the only thing that had you going for a while. It sucks they can't stay around longer. I still miss my pup that passed back in 2012, I always regret the way things went before he passed. We think it was some form of cancer but we never had enough money to check into it and we were losing our home at the same time. Took me a year to decide to get another and my new dog Eddy was such a handful, I couldn't think of anything else. I still miss my old pup JJ, but having some around always helps comfort me. I know now is still a hard time, but I highly advise to think about raising another... A new dog is not a replacement for your past, the companionship is needed though. On a side note, my mother in law found a puppy that was dumped onto one of her families farm land and no one wanted it. She took the puppy and wanted to find a good home for her. So we took her in for a few days this weekend before we found a loving home for her. I wanted to keep her, but my wife said no. So she's now with another couple that wanted her.

Sorry to hear about Hershey! I was hoping to not see a post like that for a looong time after all you had been through together. "Animals" can really be the best friends... Those are awesome pictures of her! Looks like a lot of good memories. Really like the paw-print photo and caption as well... Although hard to lose a friend/family member like that, be sure to take care of yourself - I'm sure she wouldn't want it any other way.

Thank you all. I am serious. It means a lot to hear the condolences from you guys. I mean, your damn near strangers caring for fellow strangers who have something in common, one shared interest or two. Things like that are what makes people....people. It's nice to see one common goal of concern and care directed at one person for the loss of a friend. Rain, I just don't know about getting a new friend. IT's something I said I won't do, but we all tend to do things we say we wont. *hugs* to your JJ. And to those that dread that day...well you always have me, and numerous others to help you out in coping. Love you all.

Very sorry for your loss. Man that is the second toughest part of life to go though (I used to think it was the toughest until we lost our son). We too have been blessed with amazing animals. It does NOT get any easier as they go. I think it gets harder because your realize they have a very short life and you are with them more and more as life goes on...

Yeah. It's why I wonder if I should get another dog. I mean... Helll I dunno, it's like setting yourself up for punishment. But, if I rescue a stray or something of that nature at least I can give them a great life.... Or try anyway. Stuff like that has me torn. Anyway, my friend started a go fund me to help with vet bills. This care credit is going to kill me in 5 months if I can't pay it. Anyone wants the info please PM me. Even if it's just to share it on your FB and get it out there. I can't post it here as it's not allowed.

I just saw this, and I'm very sorry to hear of Hershey's passing. I know how much Hershey meant to you, and I offer my deepest condolences. It's up to you if you want to adopt another dog, or wait. After my cats passed away (in my arms, as well), I didn't think I would have pets again for a while. Then life got in the way, further pushing that back. Then, kittens decided to invade our backyard, and ultimately became the cats we have now. It was surprising how easy it was to let those little creatures back in, as if nothing had really changed. The easiest thing you can do to help with the grief is to remind yourself of all the good times Hershey had with you, how full of a life she lived, and how loved she was. You did everything you could do for her. When I miss my first cat, I only ever think of his last day, which was easily the best day he had in years, and I barely remember the moment he passed away. Missing a pet hurts, and the thought of missing a future pet hurts, but it also makes you much, much better at taking care of another when you're ready, or another animal makes that choice for you.

Dang that sucks dude and sorry for your loss. I myself would of never thought that I would be attached to an animal. Last week I just "celebrated" the one year anniversary of my kitty's death on May 13th. I am sure you have heard this hundreds of times but time will heal your wounds. It will take longer for others to heal whatever they are going through. It took me about 6 months to get over my cat. Still sad tell this day about my uncle because his one year anniversary passing is next month. Stay positive and make sure you keep your self busy so you wont have to think about it as much. At least for now I have this guy to cheer me up. Only dog in the world I actually like.

So all I can think about is when. When is a good time to take her ashes out there and do what needs to be done. My solution, I think next Friday the 5th is when. It's my birthday. Thinking about it though maybe i shouldn't? I dunno. This is so much harder than I thought it would be. I mean, the last time I experienced a loss that would have shook me to the core was my grandpa (moms dad), and I was just too young to understand any of that. There hasn't been a loss in my life that bothered me, even when when my Granny (dads mom) passed I felt no real loss. There wasn't a bond there. This dealing with loss thing is for the damned birds I tell ya...

Would it have mattered to her? Or would she have been perfectly happy to go whenever? So, that's when the right time is. Whenever, because she wouldn't have cared what day it was, simply that you were going somewhere with her. I haven't had another dog since my last one. I don't really think I want to go through that again. But. Pets can be such a bright spot in our lives that it's still worth it in the end.

-hugs- Luckily I am, for when the sting of death came to me I was too young to remember. I fear the day that I am visited by the sting of death, for the pain of losing someone, or something you love dearly is more of an intense pain than all other pains felt. Physical pain will fade into memory and be forgotten and may even leave scars which can be covered, but emotional scars never sleep, there is no covering it up, only constant reminders to what was lost, or what was. I tremble at the thought of losing someone close, sometimes to the point of tears, for I know not how to cope with such a pain, and maybe those that do, lose what is most valuable to a human being.

Yeah... It's only been 5 months....Feels like forever ago. Every time I move something or rearrange something I see more of her hair and laugh to myself. At this rate if cloning becomes a thing for us lowly folk, I may just have another chance with her lol. But maybe minus the cancer this time round. This video was only a few months before she passed. The oddest thing I recall about it is she has NEVER, and I mean NEVER been so playful with another dog other than Daisy, the yellow lab I had.
