Hoping some kind soul can help me with this before I go crazy. Sorry for noob GPU skills:
Recently upgraded graphics to EVGA 1070 OC ACX3.0.
I was previously running two Gigabyte GTX 570s in SLI mode.
I have a BENQ XL2420T, native resolution 1920x1080 at 120HZ which I'm running the system at.
Cant remember the motherboard by heart but can figure it out if needed.
Windows 7 64bit
 
Since upgrading I've noticed that the desktop and in particular colour palette seems lower quality than before. I do some photography in my spare time and post image processing. I've noticed that photos aren't displaying as crisply as before and with less depth in the colour with what looks like more pixelation. Its very hard to describe but its very noticeable and driving me crazy as I can't find a fix.
 
I've ensured I've got the lastest drivers (375.70) and bios for the GPU (86.04.50.00.70).
I did a clean install: uninstalled all the GTX 570s and Nvidia S/W. Then physically installed 1070 GPU with download of latest drivers and NVIDIA SW.
Connected to the BENQ through DVI (same as with the 570 SLI setup).
 
I've fiddled around with the colour management ensuring its set at 32bit True Colour. Its all setup ok.
 
At a loss now as all windows settings seem to be the same. I can only think that the following must be the issue:

• DVI output of the EVGA 1070 OC ACX3.0 is faulty?
• Some incompatibility between the EVGA 1070 OC ACX3.0 and display on the BENQ XL2420T?
• Some SLI configuration is left over somewhere causing the image to not be displayed properly?

I've attached two example screenshots that hopefully show the colour 'bleeding' that I'm seeing as its so difficult to describe. Its as if the colour palette is less than before but everything I've checked seems as it was so I just don't get it.
1st image is a screen grab from a website.
The 2nd image is a 6.55mb CANON jpeg at 5184x3456 pixels. This was crystal clear and stunning on my old setup. Now it frankly looks terrible!
 
Any help appreciated. If other config or information needed then please ask.

Check your output mode in the Nvidia control panel, make output mode is RGB Full range: https://pcmonitors.info/a...n-nvidia-and-amd-gpus/

bcavnaugh, as you suggested:
Have done a complete uninstall of drivers, NVIDIA S/W removed.
Used DDU to clean from safe mode.
Reinstalled. 
No difference.
 
Installed display pilot for the Benq. I'm running in native resolution.
When I run the wizard, there is an issue on the resolution stage. Basically I'm not getting the full grey scale indicated as  "correct". There is some banding = "not correct" but the tool gives no solution for an issue. See photo 1. When I had the 1070 drivers uninstalled I checked this again and I was also seeing the same issue which makes me think its not a NVIDIA Driver S/W issue. 
 
When you attach a monitor via DVI cable, you don't get the options for colour depth or RGB Range (see grab 2) in the NVIDIA Control Panel. I had read up on it previously when looking for a solution, its only when connected through HDMI but thanks for those suggestions. Desktop Colour depth is at its highest (32bit). I did try connected with HDMI but I saw the same issue even with RGB at full.
 
Regarding 8 bpc or 10 bpc, is this correlated to the Desktop Colour Depth or a separate setting? I searched on the web but haven't found an easy solution to indicate what windows is currently set at? I find it weird that a high colour depth would be supported under my old SLI setup and not with the 1070?
 
Double checked physical installation of the card and cable attachments. No issues.
 
Enosoma, you are of course right, I'm an idiot. Attached a photo which hopefully shows the lack of colours and the pixelation.
 
Beginning to think it must be a H/W issue with the card. Or its running at 8bpc when it was 10bpc before.
I've ordered a DP 1.2 Video cable, will see if that makes a difference. Any other suggestions welcome and thanks again.
 

How do I access DP port?
I've no 2nd monitor but will borrow one from work next week.
It would be a big coincidence if the monitor failed at exactly the same time as I installed a new graphics card but I guess its a possibility.
 
I've emailed BENQ support with the issue and the problem I see on their display pilot wizard page. Hopefully they can pin point where the issue might lie.

Hmm, it's been a while since I've used DVI but I'm pretty sure it should be able to support 10 or 12 bpc. HDMI does and the video signalling is the same. DP will for sure. Maybe check the Windows color settings and ICC profiles. Maybe try reinstalling the monitor driver/inf.

Re-installed BENQ driver, no help.
Read the manual however and if you use a DP cable then you can manually adjust Pixel Clock on the monitor, this is if you see vertical banding that I see in the Display Port Wizard test. So i'll wait for the DP cable to arrive and see if I can fix the issue that way.
 
Did some searching for pixel clock issues and there are a few threads of people reporting display issues on 120HZ monitors with 10 series NVIDIA cards. Seems its mainly for 1440P however on bootup but wondering if there is a connection. Goes a little beyond my knowledge (I'm not an over-clocker) but seems to be a conflict that NVIDIA will need to address:

No, no response time unfortunately. Many thanks for your help though.
Finally tried with the DP cable, no fix. More options are available in the NVIDIA control panel; Colour depth set to 32bit, Output colour depth is 8bc, Colour Format RGB, Output Dynamic Range set to Full.
 
DP doesn't support more than 60hz though either?
 
Pin pointed the issue to colour banding and it seems its a very common issue over the last year or two with various NVIDIA GPUs. Issue with the GPU card itself that NVIDIA seems to be ignoring:

 
Out of options really. Its important to me that I can edit my photography.
I'll RMA EVGA and ask if a fix is in the pipeline. If not I'll try and return and look at an ATI I guess.
