Hello !
I bought my card 1st october... If I do RMA now, I will have a brand new card with pads preinstalled or a refurbished one ?
I will have to pay for the cross shipment ?
I dont want to RMA but it seems that we are not a lot of people who wont put the pads and I'm a little bit worried about this...

I'm uncomfortable applying the pads as well and think about RMAing my 1080 SC.
I'm wondering if we will get a new/as-new card with the applied pads within a matter of a few days after sending the current card in, if EVGA is going to apply the pads to the card I've sent in or if it will take EVGA weeks to get a new card to me due to low stock....You know what I mean?

I think we can have cross shipment but we have to pay for the second card and wait to be refund...
Dont want that either... :/
But me I'm asking because I have my cards for 35 days now and I already know that I wont RMA if they send me a refurbished card (even if they put pads on it)
What a mess seriously...

Ive asked this also about my 1080 classified and no one has replied so I guess you will get a refurb, I'm trying to sell my card as I don't feel we should have to mod our cards to make them safe and I dont want a 2nd hand replacement. Its a shame really when spending £750 on a card that I'm now stuck with"as I cant seem to sell it " and ive already bought myself a replacement 1080.

I feel your pain, but I did visually inspect (whilst mounted in case) my card and it seems the thermal pads between RAM and mid plate were making great contact. I also bought a thermal probe with a display and for the last few days I had it tucked under the V (top left) of EVGA on the back plate and ran Heaven DX11 for 30 mins and ran Battlefront (SW) at max settings @8k getting around 15-21 FPS (so cinimatic) for around 30 minutes. The probe never read above 63°C and the GPU was around 67°C with my own custom fan profile which is quite agressive and peaked at around 2090RPM. So you could buy a probe and visually inspect for the RAM issues it may help put your mind at ease. The probe was £5 in the UK. I've since bought another one and a front plate for the 3.5" bay so I can permenatly mount them there. When I get the second one I'm going to do further testing and post here on 2 different spots of the backplate with the probes secured by a small thermal pad I bought from Ebay.

I think it will probably be a refurbished one. I doubt they have enough new inventory to accommodate all these RMA requests they are getting :(

That's cutting it close, did you call? It probably would've been better to call than post here. If you haven't you should Monday and ask because being 38 days out as of Monday you're probably going to be set with a refurb. HungryHamster

I doubt they have enough refurbished cards to accommodate all the cards that are out of the ~30 day window that are potentially being RMA'd. That said, I hope people think it through a bit if they have a card that's a silicon lottery winner in the GPU core department especially in the case of 1070s that have Samsung VRAM.

They are waiting for everyne to start sending their cards in and those outside the 30 days will get those cards sent back to them after they have had the fix applied.
Basically, everyone will be just trading cards around...Joe will get Tom's, Tom will get Frank's, Frank will get ....etc

Easy they just clear the Registration in their system linked to the old person.

I wanted to keep my original card to, so I was gonna install the pads myself and do the bios flash.
But the bios failed the first time and now I get black screens when reboot my PC or start it up.
