Good afternoon and Merry Christmas...or as Seinfeld would say "Happy Festivus for the rest of us" lmao

So I've gotta say that I was very skeptical that IC Diamond, and the "pea size" application would make that much of a difference in my rig. I'd seen Falcon_CMH giving away free samples, and for a great while, this pushed me away from the product; I'd thought he was just bias and peddling a product for a company. Regardless, I to purchased this under the pressure of seeing favorable results in multiple posts. Before I got my IC Diamond I was using MX3 and the thin spread method with my EK water block, and though I don't have pictures (because I was rushing to get things done), I wanted to share my results with everyone here.

My MX3 with an OC of 1.267Vcore at 4.2ghz (unstable in LinX but game playable) ran me at 40c idle, and 68c full load on a good day with it being cold in the room and the windows open; every once in awhile if I had everything closed up and all my entertainment equipment running it would reach 70c. So, I decided to try this IC Diamond stuff out, and I decided to use the "pea size drop" method; this was also contrary to my beliefs. My results were a shock... and I literally sat there in awe! Keep in mind, I'm not a fan boy of IC Diamond and thus the reason I REFUSED to take a sample from Falcon_CMH (he'll verify); I wanted to buy it on my own and give unbias results; when in fact I really wasn't unbias, I actually expected it to do nothing for my rig, and was looking to see it fail.

After the following results, I've been converted, just like St. Augestine! My IC Diamond with an OC of 1.34Vcore at 4.2ghz (linX stable) runs me at 38c idle, and under full load 58c-62c; was it IC Diamond or the PEA METHOD...I don't know, a combination of both? Probably. Either way Falcon_CMH was absolutely correct. I'm a firm believer in IC Diamond, the product itself, and the pea method that Falcon speaks so highly of. In a word, I feel like getting down on my hands and knees and praising the computer gods for giving me such incredible results. Or maybe I'll just shake Falcon's hand and thank him for proving me wrong, and turning me on to this stuff...it may be called IC Diamond, but it's worth it's weight in gold in my book! (or diamonds for that matter hahaha)

Yeah it would have been interesting to see how MX-3 would compare with the pea size drop application method.  The application method made the biggest difference I'm sure.  I have yet to see the two pastes be compared directly, but I have seen MX-3 share a similar lead to IC Diamond over MX-2 in some reviews.

Wow, now you have me interested to try this stuff.  I switched from AS5 to MX-3 but that was mostly because I bought MX-3 because it was recommended for swapping out on my GTX260's TIM and I did the CPU while I was at it.  I used the line method on the CPU though.  So, the "pea" method, is it really the size of a pea?  I keep thinking that's a lot, but then so is a line I guess.

Peas come in various sizes.  The amount of TIM you should use depends on the size of the surface you'll be applying it too.  What you can do is a simple trial and error process.  Put a small drop on the center of whatever you are going to apply TIM too (a GPU IHS or CPU IHS probably) then mount the heat sink or water block.  After you've done this, remove it and see how it spread.  You want the TIM to form a thin layer over the IHS but you don't want it dripping off the sides.

My pea was a little larger at first (god I feel weird talking about this) hahaha....anyways, I thought I originally put too much on. So I pulled just a tad bit off, and still thought it was too much but decided to plop my water block on there anyways, those were the results above. I really don't think you can go wrong with this stuff. It's extremely good, and I certainly wouldn't support it if I didn't believe in it.

Please post your results after you get your IC Diamond...I know you're going to have great results.

Good to see someone writing about their good experience rather than 10 threads about how it sucks. IC7 is great stuff, I don't use any other TIM for my computer. I gained about 2-3 degrees on every core of my CPU and about 5 degrees on each GPU. It's very thick though, needs a little elbow grease to get it out of the tube. But ohhh so worth it.

I have OCZ Freeze on my CPU. The current temp is 31c. I wonder what the temp would be with ICD.

I've been using IC Diamond (drop in the middle application) for almost two years now and it's pretty much all I use.  I did want to vary it up a little bit, and tried Indigo Xtreme a month ago, but I failed the application.  I still have one more application left of IX, but I just put it back in its package as it's not worth it for me anymore right now to muck about things.  I have used ICD to re-TIM my 759 last year and my GTX 470 this year.  It's a great product.  Can never have enough of the stuff on hand!

So, using it on both CPU and GPU is ok for the one product? Like an all in one!   ;)

Yeah, I saw everyone writing about how great the product was and how Falcon_CMH was giving away free samples.  After about 2 months of seeing this I gave in and PM'd Falcon with my info.  I honestly thought he would be like "here we go again, another guy trying to get some free stuff".  A week later the product was in my mail box.  I too was skeptical until I saw the difference. BTW, I have pretty much always used the pea sized method.  I posted my results about a month ago.  Anyway, since then I have built a new system and bought IC Diamond 24k for as I recall, $19.00.  Wish I had known that there was a new distributer.  Could have saved some money.  At this time, all I can see myself using in the future is an IC Diamond product.
